@BillyBones139 I don't use the reflective mulch on all my beds, just the beds where large things are planted, like my tomatoes and peppers. When i do lay down the reflective mulch, i just pull up the strings, then pin them back into the soil on top of the film.

@nillajenn My house actually shades my whole garden from the late afternoon sun, so i don't have to do any additional shading. You also have to make sure to get all your plants in the ground by april 15th so they have enough time to grow large roots before june. Make sure you never stake any plants. It gets too hot and dry for them that high up. Let them sprawl. It's not the most efficient way to use the space, but they will be much more likely to live through the hottest months.

@BillyBones139 I don't usually go to bed until 2-4am, so i'm never awake when the sun starts hitting my garden. I assume it should start getting some good sunlight between 7am though, then it's completely shaded by 4pm.

I noticed the Square Foot Gardening strings running across. Did you put down the reflective mulch first, then the install the strings across the beds?

Do you have natural shade throughout the day or have you built something for the shade. Everything I have tried to grow has fried in the afternoon sun...

Does your garden get full sunlight during the AM or PM hours? About how many hours of direct sunlight?

@VivaLasVeggies Yup but not too many though. I tried it 2 years in a row and it didn't work well either time. Not sure why.

@inthesunshinegirl Everything ended up doing really well. Here's what it looked like when everything was further along: ht tp:// i . imgur . com/ WtdEm. jpg (remove the spaces). I got TONS of cucumbers and made lots of pickles too. I'll try to make more videos again soon. All my seeds are sprouting right now, and will go outside around April 15th.

@deesbirthday I got the min/max thermometer at LeeValley(dot)com. You can find it here: goo(dot)gl/EyFht I produce enough food for my fiance and I, but not much extra so I haven't sold anything. I dehydrate and can any extra veggies I have, and use them throughout the year. I like making pickles, hot sauce, dressings, pasta sauce, etc.
