Likely due to cold battery temps when you first plugged in the morning. The battery has to prime itself to optimal temperature in order to sustain any higher level of charge.

Yeah it definitely said it preconditioned before arriving but it probably didn't have enough time to get to the optimal temperature. Not sure if you saw but I like how the Ford Mach E actually shows you the battery temperature which would be useful for Tesla to expose to us too for transparency into things like this

@@AHoltonof Yeah that and I just watched out of spec motoring's Porsche Taycan roadtrip and it is pretty neat. Seems that Tesla wants to take a more simplistic user experience like Apple.

Yeah I just watched that too, it's crazy the amount of issues he ran into when using the 350kw chargers but the car seems really plush. I might head down to one of the Porsche tracks to test drive a Taycan which I'm really excited for

The fuller of battery during the charge cycle is slower the charge. So if you start the charge of 4% to 58%: you’ll get the 250 kW speed. Look at the out of spec motoring for the premise of taper charge cycle.

Yeah that makes sense, actually started looking into his videos and a little more reading about the charging curve. I think I heard the Taycan can maintain a higher charge rate for a longer period

Nice video! We are looking to buy our car next month, probably a model 3. We go to Colorado from Chicago a couple of times per year to go to Rocky Mountain National Park. Haven’t been out that way since Covid, my wife is in the nursing field and cannot travel without quarantine prior to going back to work. Hoping to be in Estes Park in April, we shall see!

We travel with our dog in our Model Y and noticed that a lot of people had dogs at the superchargers. Maybe because of dog mode? Can leave them if the car if necessary to get somewhat better food instead of just doing drive through at McDonald’s.

The hotel we stayed at was pet friendly but I think there was a weight limit and it just cost so much extra for pet fees so we left our dogs at the Aspen Animal Shelter because they do boarding. They were fantastic and it seemed like a place that everyone in town used, will definitely use them again. But if you can find an airbnb that will probably work too!

You think you need a destination on the navigation for it charge faster? I thought maybe it was the charging curve and I was past the peak maybe? Could even be temperature the battery was at since its hard to know if it's at optimal temp

@@Rhyme905 not sure what the plan is...Christy doesn't want the cybertruck but hoping she ends up liking it (but she's really set on the Y). So we will have both for some time but will have to come to a decision about which we enjoy more and is more practical. I reserved the tri motor so higher price tag but it also has more range and highest tow capacity
