Laser Engraved shotgun stock. xtool D1

I got a laser a few weeks ago and I've been crafting things. BORING! lets use it to engrave things on pew parts to make them work better. For real though, I have been thoroughly enjoying the XtoolD1 and engraving just about everything. I truly hope that you guys find this video interesting and please dont forget to like and subscribe!

You dont need tape i have done many with my xtool no tape second the stock should be sanded down to original wood the engraved then gin stuck oil like true oil that's how its done

Did you just lay the stock naturally flat on your workspace or did u have to shim it due to the curvature of the stock for the laser to keep consistent I would like to try this but was just curious on how u set it up

I took the barrel off and the mag tube. I did not have to shim it though. I did wash it out and then paint it afterward. I used tweezers and then a rag with some rubbing alcohol to clean the tape off the turkey.

Also if you have a shotgun like this it's really easy to engrave the reciever too. I engraved a flying duck on it. I used 80% power and 54 speed one pass in Laserbox basic for the metal part of the reciever. With one pass. Using the 10w D1 pro

The laser with some accessories is around 700. It's an Xtool D1 10w. It's a few years old now. But check out xtools website. The computer was built by me. Rough cost is around 4 or 5k

Need to sand finish off. Why the tape?

The tap is there to help keep the edges from burning. It helps give it a cleaner look. I use the air assist now without the tape and it works great.

Also If you pre tape, in this case too. I painted it, its already pre masked around the object

If the weapon is metal I'd recommend something like a cnc engraver. If it's wood this is a 10w diod laser and works pretty good. Also a jig to hold the stock in position would really help.

I forgot to mention. If your using a laser. Learn light burn. You can do the exact measurements and shape of what you need to do.

What settings did you use on power and speed

I wish I can remember. I've been looking to see if I have a picture of the settings but I can't find it. It's usually 1 pass, 50 speed around 70% power though. If I find it I'll come back and let you know.

I haven't yet. I'm sure I could download the template for it or build it but I'm still learning the software.

I did laser a duck on the reciever that was pretty cool. I'd imagine it would do the barrel. Not 100% on that though.

The website states that you can. I can run it from my android phone as well. These machines are a bit finicky in the initial setup to get everything connected. If you do get one, check out the FB page for Xtool and there is a ton of help in there.
