Hi, I'm about to do mine but I have heard that you won't feel anything as your mouth will be numbed, and he uses a laser which minimizes the pain, the infection is low but you will have to treat your teeth right and listen to the dentist, takes a few days before it's healed so dw.

Congratulations!! I’m in braces now and plan to get a gingivectomy after because I have a gummy smile. He actually did a gingivectomy on you. A crown lengthening is actually lifting your gums up and shaving the bone down and then contouring your gum and sewing it up. My boyfriend had one. There was thread all in his mouth.. very painful

Literally my whole situation right now 😩 had braces for 4 years in highschool got them off lost my retainer by being young and careless🤦🏽‍♀️ now I’m with smile direct club to Align my teeth which now is giving me a gummy smile so now I’m looking into gum contouring after my treatment plan I’m also looking into getting permanent bonded retainers so I don’t have to worry about the removing and putting back in the clear retainer everyday 😊❤️

@@beccabjerky hey it went great thanks, my gums are fully healed and I love the way my teeth looked. The most painful part was getting numbed I had to have a LOT of numbing but the laser was okay. I had the top teeth done first then the lower gums the next week. So pleased with the difference!

It could be both. Mine actually did grow back a bit. I got a touch up at my follow up. I would give it time to see and let your doctor take a look at your follow up.

I have a similar story as you. Braces in high school, didn't wear my retainer and now as an adult, I have braces again. I don't have the discipline for Invisilign because I like to snack throughout the day 🤣. I never had a gummy smile until I had a frenectomy. I just went to have my consultation yesterday. I have another 2 months left with my braces and will be having bonded braces behind my 2 top front teeth so my gap doesn't sneak back in yet again. Thank you for sharing your experience.

It came out really nice. I just got mine done today but because of periodontal disease.The did my right side , then next week they will do the left. Didn't hurt at all. The only think that hurt was the 10 numbing injections. Whooo those hurt!
