Great video. One question, will the dust collection system work with the docking station mounted to the side of the spindle?
@EverythingXCarve3 жыл бұрын
Hi Steven I have mounted mine with a 3d printed piece that can be found in the manual. If you need one let me know happy to print one out for you.

Hello what is your recommendation on the opt laser looking into getting one for x carve machine
@EverythingXCarve2 жыл бұрын
I love my laser from opt lasers and I also have the air assist nozzle which helps reduce the scorching. It is more money then the standard but well worth the cost. I would recommend doing your research to see what best suits you but they are amazing...

Hi Rob here is the link to it in Easel sir. www.inventables.com/projects/x-carve-laptop-stand Thanks for watching. You will want to use 1/2 inch plywood or MDF.

This kit costs 900$USD(at time of writing). Why did you get this kit verus like a J-Tech one for even more power and high resolution lens for 150$ cheaper? This is still a diode laser so reflective and transparent wont work, so project stuff is just general laser engraving not really cutting? Having used a smaller laser setup using GRBL (what the xcarve runs on) make some macros for the console to change the settings for laser mode and work area limits, and then another to set back to router mode ;p

Hi Kodaijin, Thank you for your comments. I love this laser. Everything about it so far is amazing. I can interchange nozzles as well as laser focusing and it comes on and off with a magnetic shroud. It might be a little more money but worth it, as plastic is cheap and this laser is anything but cheap. I guess it is a preference thing nothing against any of the other lasers but this laser is awesome. Thank you for the info on the macros to convert from laser to spindle I appreciate it.

@@EverythingXCarve Thanks for interacting with a viewer ;p I've been subbed for quite some time, hopping to see more. As for the macros, yesh Gcode macros are game changers. Like better homing the zeroing work it's a must. Example I don't replace my spindle with laser and do the mount on method. I run a macro after homing that will move it over some then I can mount it (with a refance spot). In the same macro it will also make the work area offsets to account for the laser and change grbl to laser mode. Homing with spindle and a 3 point touch place is even more amazing if you ever do one and use a macro for it (zero all 3 axis in one line of code verus stock)

My laser will not fire on Command M3 S1 . What could be wrong?
@EverythingXCarve2 жыл бұрын
Hi Julia, I would look to see if you have the laser fire percentage on and start very low. I had this problem as well. Please feel free to reach out to me via messenger and we can walk through it live if you like.
