From the factory the stripes were painted on after the clear so you were able to feel the raised stripes.

The only time it matters is when the car is in 6 figures,there do many of them coming out of the wood work/Barns!there’s more now registered then back in 70,Pat has done a great job showing the GM plant differences !

@Leo-DaGreek It matters every time. There were 660K Chevelles produced in 1970, and of all those , 49,800 were an SS396 Chevelle. BUT ONLY 4, 475 454SS were produced, and some of them were El Caminos & Convertables , which are SUPER Rare.. So iF someone says I got a 1970 454 SS for sale , chances are , IF it isn't registered or has a build sheet , it's a Clone. I have a 1970 Chevelle born with a 350 all original Malibu, and if I badge it and dropped in a 454 or 396 , you wouldn't be able to tell just by looking at it if it was real or not, Because ALL SS Chevelles are Malibu's at one time or another. And mine was forest green , just like the one in the video. But it's silver now , painted by the previous owner. BADASS Car, tho. ✌️
