Thank you for educating us on all the different types of laser treatments, and talking about the pain levels associated with these. I knew someone who got laser for rosacea, and she was in pain for MANY days and her face was bright red all that time. She didn't actually complete the treatments because of the pain of the first one. Also, she didn't see a huge benefit. I'm thinking she got one of the old school treatments, not even the right kind for her condition!

Thank you Dr. Dray! After throwing tons of money into high-end skincare in an attempt to get rid of hyperpigmentation, I finally realized my folly. I now adhere to what you advise, and my next step will be to follow up with laser treatment if I'm a candidate. Btw, dermatologist Dr. Davin Lim also a has a channel here with excellent content focusing on lasers, fillers, energy devices and surgery. It's very helpful to learn more about the various options!

I was pitched on the idea of a BBL + Halo treatment. I am worried about thinning of the skin, scarring and and worried that, if doing the full face, some of my beard could stop growing. A beard that doesn't grow might look pretty strange.

I'm due to receive fully ablative co2 laser in one month for acne scars & I'm absolutely terrified. I've gotten 4 fractional laser treatments done with mild improvement in scarring but I'm so sick of these scars that I'm seeking a more dramatic effect. Since hardly anyone performs fully ablative lasers anymore, the only person near me who does it is a medical doctor (not a dermatologist. ) He said he performs about 2 per week & has never had a client whose experienced negative side effects. I'm just so nervous 😓 😟

I had fraxel dual laser done one month ago. My derm recommendeds two or three of these treatments for best results, only because I am older and my skin damage is pretty severe: pre-cancers, some small basal cell cancers, and brown age spots. After the first fraxel treatment I can already see some improvement in all the above conditions, as well as fine wrinkle reduction. I had about 8 days down time while my skin peeled. Pain was very minimal with the numbing cream applied before the procedure. I look forward to completing my laser series, and I am being religious about sunscreen and retinol every day.

Thanks for the great content. I am revisiting this as I ponder another treatment for sun damage. When you said it feels like a hot rubber band flicking you I died, I have explained it as that since my first one a few years back. Now that I am more diligent about sun care I get these much less often. Thanks for all of the explanations!

I received two laser treatments recently. I carefully chose my board certified dermatologist and reviewed his credentials. We discussed the process carefully and the aftercare. He recommended petrolatum and mineral sunscreen. Burst capillaries, redness, and brown spots gone! I also had a few thicken spots on my forehead from rosacea removed. I’m so happy with the results!

So informative and interesting. As a skincare junkie I have undertaken both Fraxel and V Beam lasers. Fraxel was very painful but well worth it - my skin looked incredible the following month ( my downtime was 1 week as I had a deep version) V Beam was the only laser that worked on my thread veins as you suggest. IPL did nothing for me. Thank you for sharing your incredible knowledge x

Hi dr Dray. Thank you so much, very useful video. I have done fractional laser on around the eye area to improve the area as had really deep lines there . Initially 3 treatments then twice a year to keep results. The results have been amazing. And the more treatments I do the better is that area. I put a numbing cream before and take a painkiller and it is really not so bad at all. They also give a cortisone shot to speed up the recovery. The treatment has been a miracle and a great alternative to botox which I really didn't want to do. Thanks again. Looking forward to your videos as usual!

The NIRA laser is the only FDA-approved, fractional laser that can be purchased and used at home by anyone who can afford it. NIRA uses the same semiconductor laser diodes tuned at 1450 nm which allows peak absorption in the dermis layers. What are your thoughts and opinions about that at-home laser technology?

I can’t wait to get my fractional c02 laser for my scars . My scars are on top of a main vein in my arm and it’s affecting the way the vein pumps blood. So my circulation hasn’t been the best. Hopefully once they break up some of that scar tissue the vein underneath can flow a little more freely and function more like it or go ally did when there wasn’t a scar there.

How often can you get an IPL? My aesthetician (at my plastic surgeon's office) said I can do it quarterly for maintenance, however my husband who is a physician said that is way too much and will damage my skin.
@DrDrayzday
@DrDrayzday 7 жыл бұрын
It depends on the skin concern being treated and the wavelength. Several sessions are needed for things like photodamage on the neck, but "maintenance" is more about you using photoprotection to maintain the outcome the ipl sessions achieved

GREAT video that anyone considering laser treatment MUST watch! One of the best Dr. Dray on KZbin! I live in the Dallas area so I have several choices for dermatology. Do your research friends! I actually have TWO dermatologist that I see. One specialist is for skin evaluation like moles and checking to see if any sun damaged spots or areas might need to be taken off and biopsied. So far no skin cancer. He is very conservative and I like that. Also charts my skin so he keeps track of any area that may change. I go at a minimum of once a year. The other dermatologist specialist is for laser treatments and other more cosmetic concerns. A few months ago I had my first Fraxel laser treatment and your description is spot on. My results are fantastic and I can't wait to have a second treatment. Because of the cost and down time, probably will schedule for 12 months from my first treatment. For me it was a week at home :). Also I would be interested in seeing a video on hair removal. Years ago I had my underarms done over I think it was 5 or 6 treatments and it has been really good. I'm considering other areas. xo xo

Hi Dr Dray , I’ve been recommended clear & brilliant to treat similar issues (pigmentation, melasma, sun damage). Is Clear & Brilliant not an effective laser? The shorter downtime compared to a stronger laser seems like an advantage, but if it’s not effective at removing pigmentation and melasma I don’t see any point in undergoing treatment with Clear & Brilliant. Would love to hear your thoughts!

@@underthemooon Hi! In my case, it took about 4-6 days for the spots to become scabby and then go away. Now they are completely off. My doctor checked everything was fine and my skin was great for about a week... I was so glad! But now I am worried because some of the brown spots are coming back even though I have been applying sunscreen every 2 hours and have avoided sun exposure (hats with SPF included). I am afraid I might be experiencing post-laser hyperpigmentation... I have read it happens to some people... Anyway, I will see my dermatologist again in a couple of weeks. Good luck with your hands!

@@m.graciela1652 Thank you so much for your reply! My Derm said that sometimes certain spots may come back after the first treatment and that they could go over it with the laser again for a second time in those cases. I've been wearing tons of spf too but mostly I cover up. I'm highly prone to freckling/age spots even if I wear sunscreen, so I've found that I have to wear clothing like lightweight long sleeve shirts and driving gloves in order to really prevent spots. Thanks again, and good luck to you!

Yes! Some places that do lasers have nurses do it which can be okay for some but since my laser treatments will be to heal scaring I went to a plastic surgeon who has written scholarly journals on lasers, help develop lasers, a professor and is a graduate from Stanford University. My skin is olive so I kinda need to be SUPER picky.

Thank you for the great information, I have been waiting for you to do this video since you mentioned it! I never thought of making sure to get the "all clear" from a dermatologist before getting laser treatment, so smart. I will do just that before proceeding on with laser therapy. Warm wishes from the north!

Thank you!! I’m scheduled for picosure laser in 2 weeks. I have a fair complexion and very little hyperpigmentation, but my hope is that it’ll refresh my skin and help with fine lines and wrinkles. Do you think I should consider a different laser for what I’m wanting? Thank you for sharing your knowledge!💖

The old type of laser hair removal felt like a snapping rubber band. This worked for me. But when they changed to light therapy it never worked and gave me hyperpigmentation!!!! So I would warn others - I’m fair skinned with UK ancestry but go olive tanned in summer. It’s not just people of colour that need to be concerned

Hi there, I’m wondering what your thoughts are on Laser Genesis facial treatment in particular? I don’t think you mention anything about that type of laser treatment in this video (unless you refer to it in other terms?) If you’ve touched on it before can you direct me to that video please? Ive been following you for a while & have seen many of your videos, but just don’t recall any mention of it. Is it a procedure you perform? Pros/cons? Thank you in advance!

It' s been years since you posted this vid. It' s my second time getting rid of broken capillaries. I STILL NEEDED TO WATCH IT AGAIN BEFORE THE SESSION! 😅 The same Saint Derm who healed my acne and his lovely team "predicted" when one of them (the thicker one) would reappear. Ready for the rubber band slapping my face, some podcast to listen while having frozen pea bags inside a pillow case, a beautiful hematoma and tones of arnica✨✨✨ Endless gratitude, DD 🧛🏻‍♀️🖤🖤🖤🙍🏻‍♀️🧑🏼‍🦳🐕

@@sambambina8063 According to my skin and the pigment of the capillaries, the team decided that PDL is the one for me (Puslated Die Laser). It' s literally a rubber band that went to the wrong direction and a camera flash (in spite of being 🕶️ protected, you see the room like a disco) Then, you feel exactly the same than when you accidentally hit with a door😅. The hematoma lasts about a week where I apply _arnica_ everytime my skin drinks it and ta-daaah!!!✨ I' ve noticed that tretinoine (it' s been 3 years using it) helps to reduce the amount, the frequency and the intensity of the new ones. Dr Dray said that tret reinforces the vascular system so it makes total sense. Don' t hesitate to ask me about any other procedure. Sending tones of health 🧛🏻‍♀️🖤

Dr dray! Thank you for so much information. Would you recommend fraxl laser for hyperpigmentation and dark/sun spots? This is so helpful! Thank you for such an informative video. May I make a suggestion, hopefully not to give offense. You have lovely skin, of course. But the lighting in some of your videos gives you a sallow yellow appearance, which I'm sure is not your coloring IRL. I'm no tech expert and don't know the solution, but it is something you might want to look into. Once again, thanks for all your help!

I always appreciate that you recommend seeing a derm. However wait times are incredibly long. I have several suspicious spots and both my parents have had melanomas and BCC, and yet I have to wait 14 months to see a derm 😔 I tried requesting a referral to a different derm office, and I have been waiting 8 weeks since my Doc faxed the referral to the second derm and haven’t had even a call back to schedule an appt. It’s incredibly frustrating and upsetting to feel like I have these ticking time bombs on my skin, and yet other people may be going to derms for cosmetic treatments. 😔

great video! what's your opinion on the DOT laser as im looking to getting a procedure done. However im hesitant because im Hispanic and ive heard ethnic skins shouldn't under go laser treatments. I do have really white skin so I don't know if I undergo the same risks as another person with ethnic skin? The dermatologist told me that with DOT laser most people see great results just with one treatments while microneedling and regular fractional lasers take at least 3 treatments for results. I love your videos!!!

Interesting that you say lasers are curative for certain cosmetic concerns with proper prevention. My doc said that vascular laser unfortunately needs to be repeated at maintenance intervals because physiological dilation of the vessels through exercise, heat etc causes the telangiectasia to return. I have noticed this for myself, but then again I haven't completed the full course of Excel V for this.
