Thank you Dr. Dray! After throwing tons of money into high-end skincare in an attempt to get rid of hyperpigmentation, I finally realized my folly. I now adhere to what you advise, and my next step will be to follow up with laser treatment if I'm a candidate. Btw, dermatologist Dr. Davin Lim also a has a channel here with excellent content focusing on lasers, fillers, energy devices and surgery. It's very helpful to learn more about the various options!

Thank you for educating us on all the different types of laser treatments, and talking about the pain levels associated with these. I knew someone who got laser for rosacea, and she was in pain for MANY days and her face was bright red all that time. She didn't actually complete the treatments because of the pain of the first one. Also, she didn't see a huge benefit. I'm thinking she got one of the old school treatments, not even the right kind for her condition!

So informative and interesting. As a skincare junkie I have undertaken both Fraxel and V Beam lasers. Hi dr Dray. Thank you so much, very useful video. I have done fractional laser on around the eye area to improve the area as had really deep lines there . Initially 3 treatments then twice a year to keep results. The results have been amazing. And the more treatments I do the better is that area. I put a numbing cream before and take a painkiller and it is really not so bad at all. They also give a cortisone shot to speed up the recovery. The treatment has been a miracle and a great alternative to botox which I really didn't want to do. Thanks again. Looking forward to your videos as usual!

I had fraxel dual laser done one month ago. My derm recommendeds two or three of these treatments for best results, only because I am older and my skin damage is pretty severe: pre-cancers, some small basal cell cancers, and brown age spots. After the first fraxel treatment I can already see some improvement in all the above conditions, as well as fine wrinkle reduction. I had about 8 days down time while my skin peeled. Pain was very minimal with the numbing cream applied before the procedure. I look forward to completing my laser series, and I am being religious about sunscreen and retinol every day.

I've gotten 4 fractional laser treatments done with mild improvement in scarring but I'm so sick of these scars that I'm seeking a more dramatic effect. Since hardly anyone performs fully ablative lasers anymore, the only person near me who does it is a medical doctor (not a dermatologist. ) He said he performs about 2 per week & has never had a client whose experienced negative side effects. Hi Dr. Dray! I know this video is not recent but it has been so helpful for me right now! Yesterday I had a Revlite (Q-switched) laser session performed by my dermatologist to target hyperpigmentation in my face. She gave me all the recommendations you are mentioning, but even though she said it would take some days to see the results, it was really reassuring listening to you explaining exactly what is happening to my skin (my face was red for about 30 minutes after the laser session and right now I have bigger darker marks were the spots used to be... I am waiting for those to peel). Thank you!

@@underthemooon Hi! In my case, it took about 4-6 days for the spots to become scabby and then go away. Now they are completely off. My doctor checked everything was fine and my skin was great for about a week... I was so glad! But now I am worried because some of the brown spots are coming back even though I have been applying sunscreen every 2 hours and have avoided sun exposure (hats with SPF included). I am afraid I might be experiencing post-laser hyperpigmentation... I have read it happens to some people... Anyway, I will see my dermatologist again in a couple of weeks. Good luck with your hands!

@@m.graciela1652 Thank you so much for your reply! My Derm said that sometimes certain spots may come back after the first treatment and that they could go over it with the laser again for a second time in those cases. I've been wearing tons of spf too but mostly I cover up. I'm highly prone to freckling/age spots even if I wear sunscreen, so I've found that I have to wear clothing like lightweight long sleeve shirts and driving gloves in order to really prevent spots. Thanks again, and good luck to you!

@@sambambina8063 According to my skin and the pigment of the capillaries, the team decided that PDL is the one for me (Puslated Die Laser). It' s literally a rubber band that went to the wrong direction and a camera flash (in spite of being 🕶️ protected, you see the room like a disco) Then, you feel exactly the same than when you accidentally hit with a door😅. The hematoma lasts about a week where I apply _arnica_ everytime my skin drinks it and ta-daaah!!!✨ I' ve noticed that tretinoine (it' s been 3 years using it) helps to reduce the amount, the frequency and the intensity of the new ones. Dr Dray said that tret reinforces the vascular system so it makes total sense. Don' t hesitate to ask me about any other procedure. Sending tones of health 🧛🏻♀️🖤

Hi Dr Dray , I’ve been recommended clear & brilliant to treat similar issues (pigmentation, melasma, sun damage). Is Clear & Brilliant not an effective laser? The shorter downtime compared to a stronger laser seems like an advantage, but if it’s not effective at removing pigmentation and melasma I don’t see any point in undergoing treatment with Clear & Brilliant. GREAT video that anyone considering laser treatment MUST watch! One of the best Dr. Dray on KZbin! I live in the Dallas area so I have several choices for dermatology. Do your research friends! I actually have TWO dermatologist that I see. One specialist is for skin evaluation like moles and checking to see if any sun damaged spots or areas might need to be taken off and biopsied. So far no skin cancer. He is very conservative and I like that. Also charts my skin so he keeps track of any area that may change. I go at a minimum of once a year. The other dermatologist specialist is for laser treatments and other more cosmetic concerns. A few months ago I had my first Fraxel laser treatment and your description is spot on. My results are fantastic and I can't wait to have a second treatment. Because of the cost and down time, probably will schedule for 12 months from my first treatment. For me it was a week at home :). Also I would be interested in seeing a video on hair removal. Years ago I had my underarms done over I think it was 5 or 6 treatments and it has been really good. I'm considering other areas. xo xo

I have twin boys, almost 17 years old, and I am pulling my hair out trying to get them to understand why. Their grandpa having skin cancer isn't even enough. Plus they have fair skin, have been burned before, and have a significant amount of moles already. They say "oh it's winter". They don't understand snow reflects light right back into the car at their face! (And I'm not forgetting about the recipes, weekends with you and your mom, and everything else you include in your videos.) Thanks doc! Rita

I listened to another derm video on this last night. The likelihood the collagen in a powder will actually make it into your skin is very very low. And even if it did make it there, it would have to work with the complicated way our skin manufactures collagen. However, if you are amino acid deficient then supplementing can help body function that in turn could have a positive affect on your skin.

Hi! Great video! I did an ablative CO2 Laser some days ago well aware of the downtime. Looking forward to the results in the future :) About home “light devices” I am sure there are many not worth the money. I am looking into the MMSpheres from MM skincare which are LED light threatment and FDA approved and they look good and with solid research behind.

Lol, I love seeing how excited you get about discussing this with us. You're so fun to watch! I'm binge watching all your videos these days! FYI: the person that does my IPL treatments doesn't use any numbing cream on me. Should I be asking them why? I find the treatment is pretty uncomfortable.

What kind of laser do you use on 65 yr olds with some brown spots and some sagging skin? Is it ok to use lasers for older people, can we still produce collagen?

I’m so happy I subscribed to your channel. So informative and no nonsense I love it. I was wondering what you think about Paula’s Choice? Their products seems well formulated but so expensive!

Dr. Dray, I notice the Snow White Cream contains mineral oil. I’ve always heard that was not a good ingredient in skin care products. What do you think? I find your videos SO helpful! Thank you! :)

Just wanted to add there are also newer picosecond lasers that are more effective in treating tattoos than just the older q-switch lasers depending on the colors and other factors of your tattoo sometimes multiple wavelengths are needed. Also, Infini is another type of radio frequency device that also utilizes micro-needling with RF to precise depths of the skin in different areas. A newer treatment for acne scarring and skin tightening /rejuvenation. Finally , Ultherapy and even newer Vzet are ultrasound HIFU technologies for lifting and somewhat tightening the skin by collagen stimulation with no downtime. I agree with Dr. Dray you are much better off with a qualified derm than a Med Spa!

Dr Dray oh my gosh I know there are just a crazy amount of new technology and ever evolving procedures that they keep coming up with. Would be here all day to go over every single one. One thing I like to remind people of there is no magic wand that people want these lasers to be. Wasn't a criticism. Very informative video. Good reminder that an assessment needs to be done by the dermatologist before lasering over any lesions. We have seen this happen at a Med spa where the skin cancer was missed and metastasized to lymph nodes, very sad and scary.

Hi Dr. Dray, Would you be so kind as to speak to the NIRA laser, it is very expensive and influencers are really pushing the NIRA. Thank you so much, looking forward to what you have to say about this because I trust you.
