A little known fact is that diamonds evaporate pretty easily with a hot enough flame. A blowtorch can make a diamond that size disappear with enough time, but even a regular Bic lighter can damage the outside of a diamond. "strongest thing", diamonds are the "hardest" thing. Hardest doesn't mean indestructible. Hard doesn't even mean it's the toughest thing. Hard just means it resists plastic deformation. A hard thing can be very brittle. Wack a diamond with a hammer and it'll resist, unless you hit it just right, then it'll shatter. Just like a glass Prince Rupert drop. (action lab made a video of him breaking diamond with a hammer. Sorry fellow minecrafters, diamond tools would actually be worse than iron.
