Thank you sooooooo much Dr. Lim for your honesty; because of your advice I have saved a butt load of $$$$$$$$ on not buying unnecessary products that won’t benefit me. I’m African American and don’t have that many issues but have taken your advice on how to combat the signs of aging with your recommendations of products. I just had my 52 birthday a day ago but many people I come across think I’m 36 or 37. I always stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and follow a pretty decent skincare routine the benefits my skin, so thank you for all that you do and the time you take to help all of us with great information.

I find this so interesting because I notice a huuuge difference in my skin when I use my serums. I use the ordinary and it is good but I also use aspect extreme B and it’s expensive but definitely improves the appearance of my skin even more so
@humanormachine29366 жыл бұрын
@@katex2467 Well sure, but it all depends on the ingredients in the serums. Not all serums are created equal. If they contain effective ingredients, then they'll most like provide some benefit. It's just not necessary to get those ingredients in a serum per se. Also the word "serum" itself is problematic because it doesn't have one set meaning.

So glad for the honesty. I have used a regime for decades, on my face and neck. Wash face well, apply Ponds Cold Cream, and a thin veil over that of Vaseline. By the time I get the coffee pot/cup washed up...ready to apply my day makeup. Not greasy, just moist. And look, as I am told often, way younger than they discover my age to be. Love you for being so honest. Women are paying for and buying an illusionary dream. Just not right.

I moved to France 5 yrs ago. I have been influenced by what I see and hear here. Overwhelming, the deal is cleanse with the micellar water, moisturise in the morning, night moisture slightly heavier; with perhaps a mask once or twice a month as per the season. Just clean and moisturise with a good product - really simple. (I choose a middle of range paraban and scent free that suits my skin type). My skin has never looked better, nearly 50 and I am happy with a simple routine and good results. I am fairly fortunate to have the wide range of French skin care products that exist here, at very reasonable prices too. Thanks for the channel, watch it frequently, always learning!

I just started using La Roche Posays "lipkar body milk" on my face for the day. It comes in a huge bottle and is way less expensive than the "face" lotion but has pretty much the same ingredients. I like it a lot and as an oily girl have had no break outs from it (yet).

I moisturize my face and neck w/ Cetaphil in the jar, under $10. When my eczema flares up (usually when the season changes), I switch to Kiehls Skin Rescuer until my skin is soft, supple and calm again. Kiehls is expensive so I apply it when needed.

Cerave cream in the tub! I use it day and night! It is thick but I find if I put it on after I cleanse and my face is wet it dries matte. A little off putting the first time or two when you start to use it but it's awesome. No breakouts and my skin stays hydrated and it helps keep the elements of my job off my face. If it's just too thick for you, try the lotion. It's lightweight and doesn't have petrolatum in it.

Because I have dry skin I never buy expensive moisturisers anymore. I just go through them too quickly. My strategy? Buy a fairly bland but hydrating and non irritating moisturiser and get antioxidants and dna protection ingredients through serums and concentrates. These ingredients tend to appear in higher concentrations in a Serum simply because in a moisturiser they have to make more way for ingredients that give a moisturiser its humectant and occlusive properties like glycerin. I use Cetaphil moisturiser or Avene Tolerance Extreme. Under that, I treat with Paula’s Choice C15 Superbooster in the AM and retinol in the PM

It balanced my oil production and rehydrated my skin. I used their gentle cleanser, pm moisturizer and am moisturizer in the mornings. Id use tea tree oil at night on any stubborn breakouts. My skincare game got better with time too. But sticking to that routine for a while really helped clear and heal my skin. It gets some time to get used to the cleanser too if you're new to cream cleansers (which I was). My routine has changed now, but that was a good start for me. I hope that helps. For extremely sensitive skin (compromised barrier due to topical steroids) I really like the La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra range, I love the moisturizer, I've been using it for years, even on my eye area with no problems. Also I second the doc on using vaseline products - my skin gets very dehydrated and itchy sometimes (well actually quite a lot of times) , so I need something more occlusive, and I always have my Aquaphor on hand. Also, for those like me suffering with very sensitive skin, avoid anything with fragrance, alcohol, tap water on the face, aggressive cleansers, any scrubs, harsh exfoliants, essential oils, and always use a good broad-spectrum sunscreen.

I've used the Clinique three step program for nearly forty years and have great skin. I don't think it's so much about the product itself, but it's about being consistent and faithful in using it twice a day, every single day, and never sleep in your makeup and don't keep switching around products. During some years when I didn't have much money, I would switch to Neutrogena, but always simple, non-irritating products. Cetaphil for body lotion and sometimes face. Simple is better for both skin and hair. The less you mess around and experiment, the better.

I have like 20 products and I'm lost. Reversrol, retinol, metrixil, a bunch of acids. Would you please clarify how all these chemicals work together, what you can mix and what to stay away from. HA? Is bogus? I have Vichy 98 HA is that something that is pointless?

That's because Americans are suckers for cosmetics each doctor tells you different stuff, I think you're just need to use common sense and try one if it works you will know it, if it doesn't work, You will know it was not the right one for your type of skin

Cetaphil Redness Relieving Night Moisturizer is my favorite, it has ceramides and niacinimide. I used to use CeraVe, but the newer formula of CeraVe PM breaks me out. There is also a Cetaphil Redness Relieving Morning Moisturizer which is an SPF 20 tinted mineral sunscreen. Thanks for the helpful info, appreciate it.

I like to use a spritz of 3/4 rose water and 1/4 orange blossom water to which I've added a little bit of food-grade glycerin. Over that I apply Eminence Arctic Berry Radiance Peptide Cream. It absorbs very quickly and never feels greasy.

I'm interested in what you think about brands such as "The Ordinary" and "NIOD," which seem more scientific, but is it just marketing? I'd love to see a no nonsense video on these skincare products. There is so much misinformation out there! There are also these 7 or 10 step Korean skincare regimens, which seems like an awful lot, and like it might just be marketing trying to convince people that they need more products. Any thoughts on that? I get the double cleanse, for makeup wearers, but the rest...? Apologies if you've already covered any if this.

thank you so much. I'm a man and use Alovera gel on my face in the morning unless it's sunny, then a high factor sun cream. At night, I rub half a raw potato on my skin. I have acne scars. I also drink Herbal Tyme tea. it makes your skin look good, and as many health benefits. All in all, my skin has never looked better.I would like to know the Doctors opinion on this if possible.

Neutrogena do Hydro Boost gel and cream-gel which are both awesome at hydrating the top layer of your skin. Really sweet and affordable at $25 or so. Quite often you get them on sale, got a couple from Woolies for $15 each recently. For moisturiser I use The Ordinary NMF (Natural Moisturising Factors) which is great and melts right into your skin. Very happy with both these after years of trying and paying top dollar for high end stuff.

I'm in my 50's and finally seeing the effects of not wearing SPF. I love skincare so why I skipped that step is crazy. Currently, I love the texture of Kiehl's 24hr facial cream, I'm fairly confident that it doesn't really protect for 24hrs, nonetheless I'm using it. In Australia, we pay around $70 per 125ml. I also was a big fan of Origins "Drink Me Up" for the night as I am in love with the fragrance in it. After watching this video, I will most definitely give the less expensive versions a go.

I love absolutely love thos mix I made of moisturisers: La Roche Posay Lipikar AP+ mixed with Moogoo MSM cream and Moogoo Full Cream Moisturiser + 4 drops Jojoba + like 0.3ml sudocrem + 2 drops The Ordinary Buffet. Its an amazingly good mixture, soo smooth and moisturising but not greasy or too dense. No scent or irritation. I also use tretinoin 0.025% and The Cancer council face day wear moisturiser 50 spf sunscreen and spot treat with La Roche Posay Cicaplast. Very impressed I have to say

Very very helpful. Hard for us consumers to see thru the hype, but you educated us common sensically and clarified-although I’ll have to write it down and carry it with me, or some beautifully displayed Fancher packaging or pretty models’ faces may lead me to spend far more than necessary. Also loved your video on Elizabeth Arden 8-hour Cream! Makes me want to get a horse....what??
