lasikcomplications.com/starbur... Starbursts after LASIK. Patients with large pupils may suffer severe visual disturbances at night after LASIK. If you experience debilitating night vision impairment after LASIK your surgeon may still consider your surgery a success. Don't fall for the LASIK hype. Read lasikcomplications.com.

Kenny Perry, a top pro golfer, dropped out of the 2008 PGA tour due to LASIK related issues. Kenny Perry has had 2 LASIK surgeries on both eyes about 8 years ago. With LASIK, you can have major problems immediately or further down the road. LASIK is the only elective surgery that alters the function of a healthy, significant sensory organ. The best thing to do is to NOT let someone shoot laser beams into your eyes.

I was also disabled by the greedy unethical laser vision surgeons. Constant severe dry eyes for more than three years. Night vision ruined and relentless pain. I see halos and ghosting/starbusts too. Lost my job and career. Lost my house and everything else cause I can't drive at night. Lasik Vision institute ruineb my life and the Dr. was Anthony Roberts in Md. Beware.

Even patients who do achieve 20/20 vision acuity post-LASIK can have other problems. They may read the small lines on an eye chart, but they may be seeing it double or with halos around the letters. Another common problem can be night driving difficulty. Oncoming headlights can cause starbursts so severe that it may be hard for some post-LASIK patients to see the road. Ophthalmologists will still classify you as a "success" with these distorted vision problems based on your VISION ACUITY ONLY!

If the starbursts are related to "healing" then logically you should see gradual improvement, and they should resolve within a few months. My LASIK surgeon told me that starbursts get better over time. For me, that was not true. My pupil size should have disqualified me as a candidate for PRK or LASIK.

my pupil size is 3.16mm(left eye) and 3.58(right eye), its been 1 week since i did my femto contoura lasik surgery. i see starbursts at night, will it eventually go away?

@@CHEESER7 Those measurements don't seem to be accurate for scotopic (dark) pupil size -- It is very unusual to have pupils that small. Most LASIK patients have 6 mm pupils or larger.

this is exactly what i see when trying to drive at night. its very wierd, when night driving it ofter is hard to understand what I am seeing on the roadway. It ofter looks like a spaceship has landed on the roadway up ahead of me. I also have a lot of double vision and now after 20 years since my lasick I wear glasses again, my corneas are not eligible for contacts because of the shape of them. it was great not having to wear my heavy glasses for about 10 years but now I love with the double vision and starburst. i can not pass the eye test for drivers license without a new stronger prescription glasses each year. I am almost at the same very strong RX lenses I started at -7 and -9

I had LASIK nearly ten years ago. I didn't and don't suffer with dry eye problems. But I have the starbursting shown above. The starbursting can be shrunk somewhat if I use eyedrops that constrict my pupils. But then my vision is like wearing sunglasses at night. RGP contacts can help many cases but don't consrict my pupils enough to help me.

its funny, I have an astigmatism so I always see starburst's without my contacts or glasses. I wonder if that surgery is doing something to the eye that makes it like astigmatism

I had LASIK and just want to add my opinion...I see Starbursts but only half as bad as this video shows and I don't have any double vision like shown. I agree that it is a terrible complication though. Definitely made my night driving less enjoyable.

@redeye117 For some LASIK patients it *is* as bad as shown in this video. I know from experience. When it's this bad, you never get used to it, and it makes driving at night nearly impossible and very dangerous.

You should ask your optometrist about these lenses. They have been a lifesaver for many LASIK, PRK, RK patients who experience visual aberrations such as starbursts. If your optometrist is not familiar with the lenses, find another optometrist who has experience with them. Best wishes.

I had PRK almost two years ago and I am having problems with moderate star-bursting and haloing. I find that this problem can get better or worse depending the night. I do have a piece of advice for drivers having issues with Star-Bursting and Haloing and that is turning on your cab lights. Sounds strange I know but it really does take most of the bursting/haloing away at the times when you need it most.

Refractive eye surgery is the devil. It ruined my life. People need to go out there and spread how dangerous these procedures are. If you’re not doing that then you are part of the problem.
