Lasko wind storm pedestal fan from Costco 18 inch stand fan. Assembly and unfortunate return.

It’s a great fan. Quiet, efficient, intelligent, moves a large volume of air. Easy to assemble, the design is elegant, pieces “click together” intuitively. No tools required (other than a little intelligence and power of observation). Bought 3 units from Costco, paid $39 per unit. All 3 fans are working fine… since last 3 months.

I always gotten lasko brand fans but this year I purchased one it didn't even last a week and it broke from the rotation mode. Now it's on but can't rotate and makes a funny noise. Cheaper quality that I notice this year.

As of 2024...I've noticed that Lasko Products overall quality has been downgraded...Personally, I've checked out multiple fan models and all I have returned because the fans were wobbling and shaking moderately when turned on. I have older models and none were displaying that issue...😒😒

I have also seen a noticeable downgrade in the quality of lasko fans. It’s really disappointing. However I hope they get their act together to fix it. Thanks for the input.

@@zenozer0themechanicalchann720 Yes...I contacted the company and let them know how there fans were performing along with pictures....They said they sent my complaint up to the head designers to take note...

I just saw this unit at Costco and you are 100% right, the quality is awful. Someone already snapped the back grill off the housing so the grill is sitting on top of the blades. Why you would get rid of the securing nut for the rear grill is beyond me. It’s a shame because the blade actually looks pretty cool, but is absolutely signifying Lasko’s downfall.

I 100% agree. This fan is made E N T I R E L Y out of plastic. It’s like a plastic sandwich. It also put out a bad smell. Honestly last years model was not that bad. But this is a new low for lasko (more like yeah-no)

@@zenozer0themechanicalchann720 Yup, it was truthfully a product of cost cutting, the smell of burning plastic concerns me, I assume that was from running? I’m pretty sure since the blades are in a different shape it no longer gets adequate ventilation anymore causing the motor to heat up more which is disappointing. The ones last year were very solid like you said. I actually had both the 2015 version and 2014 before selling them to a friend and never recall having any issues with them. I wish I kept them to a degree.

i returned one because it stopped oscillating and now I'm going to return another one tomorrow. Don't understand why but they both stopped oscillating. I would not recommend that fan.

I live nowhere near the US, but I have been interested in how this fan actually performs since the first time I saw it online. The thing looks so ridiculous, I wonder why Lasko even bothered to make it lol. It’d be better if they make the blade pitch deeper as it’ll probably double the performance & significantly reduce the noise level

Yeah I agree. It’s over engineered for no reason and when I went to Costco to return it I saw the display fan vibrating and buzzing too. Quite ridiculous. They should just take it off the market. one of the worst fans I had in a wile.

Agree with you both. It was obviously a way they could cut corners but still deliver a new model to Costco to entice new buyers for some reason. It’s crazy to think the worst Costco fan I remember was the Bionaire Commander due to the fact it used a brushed motor to run the fan (which there are countless amount of reviews slandering how it gets noisy and stops working altogether, hell I made a video of mine too) but this one is just as bad.

Honestly, I always associated Lasko with cheap, flimsy fans...

You did nothing wrong to the fan. Unfortunately the quality of the fan is so low that it can’t be fixed by the consumer. You may need to email lasko support.

This fan is don’t come with a nut. Instead it used a snap in system that was very flimsy.

The blade was shaking so bad that all my remedies did not work and the motor souds horrible. And bad build quality. And the sound is not that good from the fan.ill just buy an older model. Thanks!

That fan blade is definitely not true/straight. Return it. The older Lasko’s with the metal grills are way better quality. This new one looks like they cheaped out on the material.

Most products requiring assembly should have a minimum IQ requirement clearly printed on the box. It will help reduce the number of embarrassingly dumb “unwrapping”and assembly videos.

The lasko windstorm fan is total garbage and made almost entirely put of plastic. Turned it to max speed today and put it to spin and the rotation mechanism broke. Really dumb of them to make that out of plastic. Would recommend nobody buy this fan.
