Lassie - Episode

Lassie finds a half dead rooster in the woods that Timmy brings home to have his mother patch up. Paul, however, suspects the bird was a fighting cock. Timmy nurses the rooster back to health only to find it stolen by a neighbor's hired hand who recognizes "Clementine" as a champion fighter named Dynamite, and seeks to put the rooster back in the fighting ring. (NOTE: The Volkswagon "truck" used to pick up hay at the Martin's place by the hired hand was a classic!)
TRIVIA: Cock fighting is said to be the world's oldest spectator sport, going back 6,000 years in Persia. It is also the "poor man's blood sport" because roosters were cheap, plentiful, and naturally agressive towards one another. While fighting roosters is still practiced - sometimes under the radar - in many 3rd world countries around the globe and among the poorer populations, in the United States, cockfighting is illegal in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia, as well as being a felony offence in 33 of the states. The last state to implement a state law banning cockfighting was Louisiana in June 2007.
