I feel Urzica should have won also 2004…. After so many years, Xiao Qin is still the GOAT on the apparatus, even the performance 2008 wasn’t the best…

The Romanian was a pleasant surprise, and I didn't see his 2004 performance. Agree on Qin, best I've seen. Breaks form to slow down.

I still can't even comprehend how one would go about training for this at a young age. Obviously, this gymnastic event is easier when younger but what about "older" people past their 30's? Is it even possible to do this at 30+ years of age?

This is the most difficult and condemned apparatus for male gymnasts! Probably, the best pommel horse gymnasts were Soviet and Russian - Dima Belozerchev, Vitalii Scherbo and Alex Nemov, the Soviet, Post-Soviet and Russian gymnasts!

@@ianmckenna6146 sure, also he was a great all arounder, but... His form alone Is far from the rest on this list.
@sneakymongoose8703 Жыл бұрын
I agree but its just the way the judging is. Max is clearly the technically weakest pommel horse worker on this list, but he not in terms of deductability. (for example) he clearly has the least height in his basic circle than anyone else, but this isn't deductable unless he actually brushes/hits the horse. He is able to get out a routine of incredible difficulty and keep up an execution that isn't deductable, even if it is clearly less proficient than his predecessors

I'm just imagining all the banged knees and charley horses these guys get during practice.
@aliensoup24203 жыл бұрын
I did it in high school. One guy dislocated his knee-cap hitting the horse during a competition. Pommel horse was the least of my worries. I was more afraid of dislocating a shoulder on rings, or falling onto the parallel bars. I never learned any advanced skills because I was too afraid of injuries. I didn't even bother with the vault. Running full speed into a solid object was not my idea of fun.
