There was an executioner from Naples I have read about who was famous for making the execution as painless as possible. His family had used this tradition for generations before him. He would take a ball made of steel, and spin it while putting it against the convict’s back. This would end up putting them at ease, and making sure that it was the best death possible for them. He unfortunately ended up dying in an accident involving a horse, with the only other person to know the technique dying of disease shortly after, meaning this spin technique is lost forever.

Anyone who has ever fired a live round from a rifle of a caliber used in a firing squad would have no doubt about whether the round they fired during an execution was blank or live. 2:08 Exceptions. Katherine Howard, 19,fifth wife of Henry the Eighth wrongfully sentenced to death for having an affair which did not happen. She practiced in her cell for hours before the date of her execution laying her head on the chopping block. When the time came she shakily walked up to the chopping block, lay her head down on it and started praying. At 19, an executioner swing his axe trying to hit her neck, but ended up hitting her back, taking the axe up and then chopping her head off. Anne Boleyn was granted a skilled French Swordsman for her death. What about Katherine?

The most famous and prolific american executioner was Robert G Elliot, over his 40 years of service he executed over 600 people in New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont. Because of his preference for elegantly tailored suits and his relaxed professional demeanor he became known as "The Gentleman Executioner Of New York State".

The first drug is rarely an actual anesthetic, but just a paralytic, designed to make onlookers comfortable by stopping the condemned from flailing, but they'll still be conscious. Lethal injection is more barbaric than the previous options, it just looks less so to observers.

A way to get out an execution: ask for a big bowl of fruit that is out of season. When they say, “buts that’s out of season!” Just say, “oh I don’t mind waiting.”

Commenters; allow me to ask you a question. Were you an executioner, would you prefer to know the details of crimes committed by the prisoners you execute, or know nothing and just get it over with? On one hand, knowing of their crimes may instill you with some sort of twisted sense of justice, whereas not knowing would make it easier to emotionally distance yourself from the act of killing. What do you guys think?

The executioner is literally committing a crime by doing this
@DontDefuse3 жыл бұрын
Yes, in some states they put the cause of death as homicide. Which makes the job of executioner that much harder, morally

Technically the state is committing the crime - not the executioner his or herself.

Lethal injection seriously seems like the most horrifying method of execution in the modern day. If somehow I were ever in a situation where people wanted to do that to me I would fight them until they shoot me to death.

1:47 Actually, the most common form of execution until the age of the Guillotine was hanging; Beheading was seen as a 'elegant' form of death, mostly reserved for the nobility. The highest of nobles would pay to be executed standing up, by a trained swordsman (instead of an axeman).
@armiferafatum24594 жыл бұрын
actually often the executioner was that trained swordsman, they often trained on dogs and other animals first.

Florida is different, and once an executioner their said he doesn't think anything of it. He turned up, pulled the lever, got is $150 and went to his lake house in the weekend after an execution and filled his fridge with beer.

For the statement saying that 49/50 stated support a last meal, there are other states that don't have a last meal system, such as Minnesota, because the death penalty was abolished in Minnesota in 1911.
