Favorite memories of Block Buster...Was kinda the same as you described for you....When I was a kid my father used to work on the road an not be home much, he would only be home on the weekend.....So our family routine was every Friday evening when he got home from work we would hop in the car and always drive to Blockbuster Videos and was aloud to choose 2 movies each, it was like goin to church on a Sunday...We never skipped a week of this event, and did it for many years....Then later down the road, when I turned 27 my father passed away.... and it was right around the same time Blockbuster videos just started closing all their door...So it was like a double loss, because I recently lost my father and now the store that was like a staple in my childhood youth was going away for good too...I can even remember the way our blockbuster used to smell as soon as you walked into the store....It is sad they are all gone now...And this video was bittersweet and a taste of awsome Nastalgia for all of us 80s n 90s kids...Thanks for bringin us with you guys for this video, so we can all kind of experience a lost peice of American history🙏👍👍...

Alright, so when I was a kid, my dad and I would always go to this video rental store called Video One. Very similar to a lot of kids back in the day;. We'd rent movies and video games periodically. One day we went in and I noticed that there was a room that I hadn't noticed before, I asked my dad if we could check it out and he agreed. I'm not sure if he didn't read the signs on the door or if there wasn't any markings, but we found it to be the pornographic section. Oh man, my dad covered my eyes so fast and held on so tight hahaha. Unfortunately, I didn't catch a glimpse of what was inside but now that I'm older I'm fairly certain of what went down 😂

Blockbuster in the 90's to me was always the coolest place in the world! I would go nearly every Saturday with my dad. It was a ritual. As soon as we entered I'd literally run over to the new releases. Even as a child, i was aware of when new movies would release to home video. I'd have This rush of anxiety, not knowing if what i wanted would be in stock or not. Sometimes this cool event would play out where, on the wall the movie i wanted would be all empty. Every copy already rented out. So, all dissapointed, I'd grab some other movie that i had seen 20 or so times before, but then we'd get up to the checkout counter and the employee would ask if we found everything we needed. I would, with a sad tone reply "not really" and would tell the clerk what i really wanted and he would turn around and pick up a newly returned copy of it and be like "oh, you're in luck. Got it right here". And holy crap i would get super excited!! Jump around so happy. The staff, at least at my local Blockbuster was cool like that. Helpful and polite. Not to go on and on but another thing that sticks out in my head about Blockbuster was when i would split up from my dad in the store and I'd always sneak over to the Horror section. My dad was not against Horror flicks but he wasn't a fan. But i always felt like i was somewhere i shouldn't be. Like i was too young for that world. Even the cover art on some of the boxes, alone would scare me. And that's where i discovered and developed a taste for horror! As i got older it still felt taboo to be strolling that section. People would give u strange looks. Like something was off about you. It never stopped me though. I loved Blockbuster and cherrish those times in my memories

Lots of great memories from video stores back in the day... Blockbuster and independent local ones. I love the content, man. Great video. 1 of my favorite Blockbuster memories that comes to mind is when I used to work at General Cinemas theatres in 1999-2000. I would often stop to rent vhs & DVD movies after work & on multiple occasions, customers at Blockbuster have asked me for help finding a movie. Our uniforms were also blue & similar to the video store employees with the film related mascot. The people would need help finding a title, sometimes not even knowing the film, just naming actors and "what's that movie?" questions. I would chuckle and tell them that I didn't work there but I would still help them find their movies and chat about other ones. It was a treat being the buff that I always have been. I hope to visit this store one day. Keep the great job

Blockbuster: Tuscaloosa, Alabama (mid 90s). My girlfriend and I had picked out movies to rent. The checkout line was long and I was incredibly thirsty. I told her to wait in line while I grabbed a soda from the cooler. My plan was to go into the glass atrium, take a swig of soda, and come back into the store in time for checkout. I was thirstier than I thought. I went into the atrium and turned up that Diet Coke. And I was chuggin. I was chuggin so hard the plastic bottle collapsed and shriveled up like a baby hand. POP! Followed by a 4 second guttural belch. I turned around to reenter the store and I saw a mother in line with her hands covering her daughter's ears and my girlfriend giving me a look like, 'I can't believe I'm dating you.' I guess I thought the glass atrium was sound-proof. Thanks for the nostalgic vid!

Best memories are checking out the cover art on vhs, taking 2 hrs to figure out what I want, renting skin max movies cuz had no porn available & being too embarrassed to rent showgirls so had my younger sister go up n say my brother is 18 n that's how I rented it & being introduced to 10 things I hate about you which I love & didn't know about until I saw the VHS there.

I've been hoping to some day to visit this place. What a cool memory to have, what with knowing you got to visit the last and only Blockbuster in the entire world. I live in Mississippi, so unfortunately it's quite a ways away for me. Slightly over 2200 miles. Whether I drove or went by Amtrak even, it would take a few days just to get there. Nonetheless, who knows...maybe one day I can go and have that memory and experience. The one in my town closed down a couple years back. The space it used to be in is a hair salon place now. As for a favorite memory, I remember buying a VHS copy of The Lost Boys one night while spending a night with a friend for his birthday and me, him, and another friend watching it that night together.
