I have to disagree. The instruments are higher fidelity, but I prefer the arrangement style and tone of the original OST, it has a vibe that the remastered OST doesn't always replicate accurately.

You have to go into the last cave without having died once beforehand. The game keeps track of when you die I believe, so it won't work if you reset after you die.
