@ewfuoywoef32pri5 жыл бұрын
@@harpap3727 Please don't falsely credit Commodore engineering with Amiga design. The trademark of Commodore engineering is cost-management. Commodore engineering designed things like the Vic-20, C64, and Atari 520ST (arguably a C* design as it was "ready" as soon as Trammiel settled in at Atari). The Amiga was engineered by Jay Miner of Amiga, YEARS BEFORE Amiga was purchased by Commodore..

Hey brother. :D I also love (I deny to use past tense) my C64, my A500 and my A4000. Also my Atari 2600 (which is technically also Commodore if you think that Miner designed it and used a Commodore/MOS CPU). I still have all the above. Commodore lost its mojo when Trammiel left (with all his bad decisions and temper, he was still WAY better than any following management).

Me and my brother graduated from a south Georgia highschool a year earlier, in may of 1993. Had the commodore 64 still out on a desk in my room at those times. Still have it today, still works, with the 1541 disc drive and c64 13" crt monitor and c64 matrix printer. At the time this was being filmed, we were getting ready for another hot summer here in south Georgia. The memories. 😊

As a kid, I read "Family Computing" magazine (I think they turned into PC Magazine, or something like that) and they had compute prgrams for ALL the computer platforms in the 80s: PC, IBM AT, Atari 800XL, C64, etc. I always noticed that the Amiga was often separated from the rest of the Commodore line, and with GOOD reason. The Amiga was in a class by itself!

I was almost crying.. I have so many memories with my Amiga 500.. You can't even compare the fun that we got during 90s with the current generation. Since you are making the games more realistic, it doesn't necessarily mean that it is gonna be more fun. Amiga generations secret was its simplicity. I felt old.. I missed old days..

There are millions of people like myself that have very great memories of there youth playing the Amiga. For me it was a time that gave me much joy and looking at todays games I really can't say that. The Amiga was the greatest. I had the opportunity many years ago to speak with Steve Jobs about the Amiga - even he was enamored with it. It was a truly special machine with great people such as Jay Miner. It was a different bunch of folks back then - people with heart and soul and a user community like none other. Apple had a bit of that for a while, but now it's just another computer company. I really miss the Amiga and most of all the wonderful people that went along with it.

My family owned several C64s (only the first was bought new). We always wanted an Amiga, but they cost too much for us. I remember my dad telling my mother he wanted to get me a C64 for Christmas, which was the only way she'd agree to let him spend so much on a computer. Turned out he only wanted it for himself and in order for it to become mine, I had to learn programming. I was an 8-year-old girl and he thought I couldn't do it. I learned how to program a text-based game in BASIC, but that wasn't good enough for him because it was only an excuse to keep me from getting "my" Christmas gift. Still have nothing but fond memories of C64. I still play the Christmas demo on KZbin every year and watch people playing some of my favorite games like Impossible Mission and Radar Rat Race.

Also, they showed the world that computers can be anything else than boring boxes and set path for thousands of creative game developers world wide.
