You guys did so well packing so much in. Mom is clearly very skilled at travel planning - I think you must be a fantastic travel agent. Millie and Oliver are such charming, great kids and you cleverly combined fun with educational experiences. I remember doing the same with our kids when they were young. I think your two adorable children will remember this trip for a very long time and hopefully you will all want to visit us again sometime! I look forward to following your wonderful channel.

A little nugget of information for you. Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Pub is actually called The Olde Cheshire Cheese Pub. English used to have a letter called 'Thorn' which like the Greek Theta represents 'TH' but was written as our modern letter Y as well as a number of other characters. When printing was introduced in the late 15th and early 16th century, they modified the alphabet to focus on Latin letters, removing the anglo-saxon/norse characters still in use and substituted TH in place of the letter Thorn specifically.

Great vlog (again), I find it so interesting watching the vistors perspective on a City I know pretty well. Fun fact, some of us "locals" know the buildings in the "Square Mile" (City of London) by nicknames. The tower that houses the "Sky Garden" at the top is the "Walkie-Talkie" (because it kind of looks like one) and nearby are the "Cheese Grater" (122 Leadenhall St) and the "Gherkin" (30 St Mary Axe) - when it opened about 20 years ago it was about the tallest, but has now been swamped by others, the latest and tallest being "Horizon 22" (which is actually 22 Bishopsgate, and also has a free viewing area) which towers above the Sky Garden. Apologies if none of that was new info for you!

@@palmsandpalaces Not to mention the 'Wobbly Bridge' (the modern footbridge going across the river towards St Pauls). Every Brit still calls it that as shortly after it opened, a design fault meant that the bridge swayed alarmingly when a large number of people were on it. The fault was quickly fixed, but Brits being Brits - it was for ever more the 'Wobbly Bridge'.

Stupid question - so when people say the name, do they say THE?
@Iskandar642 ай бұрын
@@palmsandpalaces It is not a stupid question, most Brits do not know. When typeset was imported from the continent into England when printing first started, there was no letter for Thorn "þ" (now we use "th"), so they substituted a "y". So it should be pronounced as The, But even Brits today say Ye. It is totally anachronistic.
