Al is amazing. (I've also been watching his life story series.) It looks like a very special relationship between the two of you. It seems like the distance between you in age is bridged by your mutual respect and understanding. I think you were meant to meet at this time in your lives. Stay safe and thank you for the content.

I’m SO glad that you and Al are friends Diego. You’re a good friend to him and I’m quite sure that he truly values you. A nurturing friendship is something to treasure. I hope his roof leak doesn’t get any worse throughout the winter so you can both do the roof repair come summer. So nice to see Dip demanding attention. Cats are good judges of character so looks like you’ve passed his friendship test as well. Stay warm and stay well. Cheers from Australia 🤗🇦🇺

I’m not a youngster, and I can handle most projects but it’s always a relief to have any of my younger helper(s) show up. You are a gift to AL. I kind of think that all the help I’ve given is now coming back. I know you don’t help Al with “payback” in mind but it’s happening and as you age you’ll be more willing to have helpers too! Thank you.

I really appreciate seeing someone taking the time to put on the necessary PPE: chaps, eye shields, earplugs etc. This stuff should never be considered optional but when you're out in the sticks like you guys, it's even more crucial - when help is so far away, it's far far more important to take every step possible to ensure you don't need it. Replacing a pair of chaps is expensive, but downright cheap compared to an ambulance ride and that doesn't even touch on what medical treatment costs.

Glad your helping a friend out,We need more of this in the world. May be time to buy a Stihl MS 362 with a 28 inch bar for firewood,One can not ever have to much firewood in the PNW . Cutting firewood is quite relaxing,Dont do as much as I use to but but enjoy it any time I can, Getting a wood splitter makes it faster to split wood and saves the body.

As a guy that lives in the PNW and cuts and splits a lot of firewood. Watching you use those mauls pained me.... do your self a huge favor and buy a Fisker x27, it's there long handled splitting ax and it works better than any maul I have ever used in my life. It's like $50 but trust me.... you will thank me lol.... I use a sledge and wedges to break up the big stuff and a log splitter for the tough stuff, but that dead alder would have just all chunked up super easy with the 27 and I wouldn't have even screwed with the splitter.

You are a guardian angel to Al, and I'm sure you do wonders for him beyond just chopping and stacking wood !!! Well Done once again. Hi Diego, love to see you working with Al. Lots of interesting projects on the go. I wonder if Al's problem rocks could be tackled with a liquid breaking agent. I've seen quite a few on youtube, using products available in the US. You drill a hole using a large hammer drill and a 1-inch plus bit, fill the hole with expanding plaster and come back in a day or two with a mini-excavator to break the rock pieces out. Keep up the good work!

Hey Diego, you might want to relieve the chain tention after you've finished using the saw. When the chain gets cold it will contract on the bar, if you adjusted the tention when it was warm it will stretch and shorten the life span of the chain and your sproket. I love your videos and your opinions. Greetings from germany.

Hi Diego, was watching the episode when you were demolishing the deck and saw you struggling with removing the nails that the heads were damaged.Had a similar problem myself when I was recycling some old planks.Best thing I found for the job was a pair of vice grips. I think he guys call them locking pliers. They grip the nail down low and you have good leverage with them. Hope this helps you on future projects. Greetings from Ireland .Regards, Paddy M.

The best way to temporarily patch the leaking roof is to get some Henry's roof patch. Thinset to cover a wide area after cleaning the roof. Henry's thick patch can be put on during the rain.

I do not have a lot of experiences with a chain saw, but I do know you shouldn’t, let the chain come in contact with the soil. When you sawed about 3/4 way thru the log for each segment and then turned the log 180 degrees and finished the cutting, I thought what a great idea to protect the blade. The use of wedges to split the big rounds was also a great idea but the most important of all was helping a friend and neighbor in need is Christ-like and speaks highly of the good person you are, may He continue to bless you with health and strength to continue your good work.

When splitting you should but a round of wood under the round you are hitting. It will save your back and the maul edge from running into the dirt.

might want to invest in solar panels for the electricity and heating the cabin, i went this route and it paid off , i have 12 -1000 watt solar panels on a rotating solar rack that follows the sun from morning till night, that way all the panels are making contact with the sun at all times, of the day, also install more on the top of the cabin, next year im going to build a roof over a roof! the top roof will be 2 feet taller the the bottom roof . why? during the spring and summer in the heat of day the top roof absorbs the suns heat and the different in temperture in the cabin from the heat outside is 25 degs different,

Have you considered buying a gas powered wood splitter? As much as wood as you all split it would be worth the time and back muscles you'd save and could rent it to others to help cover costs.
