Good to see this - twenty odd years AFTER it was my final aircraft moving job with Crash & Smash. Dismantled and then took to RAF Cosford by road - quite a big job! 😂

More futuristic looking and beautiful than any modern military aircraft flying today.

Very poignant seeing this. As an Instrument Technician, I worked on XH672 at RAF Wyton, late 60's including at Floyd Bennet Field Brooklyn when she took part in the Daily Mail Air Race. After my time and following tanker conversion, she flight refuelled the Vulcan which bombed Port Stanley in the Falklands conflict.

By good fortune i witnessed this. I was derigging two Hunter T7s and had the word off the Serco boys that it was coming in.

Shawbury had its runway lengthened In the 60s to take V Force if there bases on the eastern side of the country had been taken out and is the only RAF base in the West Midlands that can take large and fast jets.

This aircraft is displayed in static condition at RAF Museum Cosford.

If she was formerly outside on static display, pleased to see that she is now snug and dry inside a hanger. I worked on her when in the RAF at Wyton, 1966 - 70.
