Oh, wow... hadn't thought of it like that. 😃 Here was I thinking it was the soul of the child who owned the dolls and the teaset, imprisoned in the jug by way of an accidental arcane ritual involving sugar lumps and the precise positioning of teddy bears... but I do tend to head towards the dark end of possibilities.

Hi Tom! First time I’ve Chatted! Love your Videos!! EVERYONE of THEM! You and the other Mudlarkers have kept me ‘sane’ over the winter & now a lockdown Soring!!!! We’re from Belleville, Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 I Love your Intro music, every time I start one of your videos, haha, every one in the House pops their head around the corner & says: “Sounds like Tom”! LOL we Love You and wish you all the Very best! I loved the 3 vids of you just walking also!! It was soooo relaxing. And sometimes I shout at the Tv. “No! Tom!! don’t leave THAT! Pick it up again!” Hahaha You are a Great fellow and hopefully One day when this craziness is over and we make our trek across the pond...we can go Mudlarking with you & Gail & Alex & Nicola & Fleur & Kate... all our dear Mudlark friends! Here in Canada, all we would ever find is beach glass & pretty stones! LOL not too many Headless figurines to be Creative with!! Take Care! And Next time put one your Waders!! 🤣😂🤣🦶🏼🦶🏼💕much love from Canada 🇨🇦 Carol, Mike & Scott & Kiki our dog🐾🐾😂🤣. P. S. Can’t see where there is a link to “James “ ? and you never mentioned his channel by name?
@tomburleigh92614 жыл бұрын
Aw, thanks so much Carol, (and Mike, Scott, and Kiki). I'm often pleasantly surprised by how families and other group dynamics react to my videos. Apparently there's a whole ward of nurses somewhere who watch together when on their lunchbreak. 🙂Being a small part in keeping people sane through the current madness has helped keep me sane. Us mudlarks are far flung accross the UK, do you want to lark with us us all in the same place? or are you planning a road trip? Next time might be in the next week, and thankfully the river will be low enough that wellies should be enough, it's far too warm for waders now. Here's the link to James's channel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3SanYhner97l5Y It was in the description below the video... just below a brief description of the video, and above other links. Love from West Yorkshire, UK.🙂

Quite the mountain goat adventure this day! One extreme to another. Quick sand ( clay grabbing your wellies to mountain scaling ! Some wonderful finds! The tiny jug with the creepy face was one of my favorite finds! The long perfume dabbers are also a favorite.

Thanks Terese, it was quite a strange version of that site to encounter... more varied than the previous week when the clay was stripped bare, and not all the trees had fallen. Turns out, one of the perfume dabbers was in fact a Sugar Crusher, making it perhaps older and more interesting. 🙂

Tom Burleigh you find the most interesting things! The larger glass dabber looking thing must have been the sugar crusher. Very nice! How they survived is amazing! Seeing the erosion continue is very sad. Stopping a river on its quest is impossible.

What a wonderful lark! In my eyes, you pretty much hit the jackpot with a little of this and a little of that- all of which I'd pick up and be glad for! Like you, I always retrieve all brass and copper, and then... whatever catches my eye. I follow the tides, so the angle of the sun on any given day is different and can reveal new things I've missed time and again. I do hope you can make your way back home again soon- for your sake, but also for the selfish reason- that I dearly want to see a grand round up! As an aside, I have to say that where I live, they apparently enlisted babies and young children into whaling or other hard work, as there are few toys beyond marbles- and very few of them. I chuckle at the notion every time I go out. Chaos at sea, toddler at the helm. Oh wait.... ouch.

Yes, didn't fall in once; only lost my boot twice... a few scratches from the thorns but all in all a pretty good adventure at the dump. I'm glad y ou enjoyed it. 🙂

Your camera work is better than some people who are on two legs on stable ground :) A lovely mudlark, thank you for sharing. The glass batteries are very small compared to one that I have. It came from a farm in South Australia for a 32V system, it is 31 cm tall, 17 cm x 14 cm opening, the other half ( from the farm) thinks that there were 12 or more of them in rows and supplied the farms electricty needs.

This was a wonderful video. I would be so hard pressed to not pick up so much that it would hinder any further walking!

Another thoroughly enjoyable water and mudlark with you, Tom 🙂. I was a little alarmed that you might fall completely in the drink under the power of a mobilised riverbank but you survived unscathed - phew 😏!!

Thank you Margaret. Yes, I was a little reckless on this outing; I knew I would have to go into lock-down soon, and was determined to make the most of it. Thankfully, my camera is waterproof, so it would have added to the footage... and I'm a strong enough swimmer to make it to the side of that river, at that water level; probably about 50 yards downstream of where I went in... but long before being too tired to make it out of the current. 🙂

I was holding my breath during you walking on those clay surfaces. Thank you for the video. And a blue and white bathroom floor, wonderful! I wish I could do that, but our rivers and creeks have very little in them in the US. Take care!

Thanks Mary; yes... I'm impressed with the scope of James's crafting ambition, I think it'll look good when it's done and hopefully he can do it so that there aren't too many levels in it to catch dust; or a stubbed toe. I might consider it as a project myself if I can ever afford my own house; but first things first, I've just started collecting pottery to tile a bird feeding station. 🙂 I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and hope you're keeping safe and well.

@@tomburleigh9261 will be getting there some time very soon, need find out where to park
@tomburleigh92614 жыл бұрын
@@ManchesterMudlarks Ah, yes... the main place is closed, and I presume the gates are too, which could be problematic. The place across the river is closed too. The site around the entrance does have a high fence... so, the only real options from what I've seen is 1) down the duel carriageway a bit, there's a lay-by. Not great for parking, but I think if you wander into the greenery that borders it, there might not be a fence between it and the playing fields. I don't know if it's safe to cross the Duel Carriage way at that point, haven't tried it yet... there's certainly a center barrier that would be awkward to step over while carrying lots of bottles on the way back.and 2) Accross the river, there's a road with some parking spaces, and a wall with an 8ft drop down into a field, and then there's a padock, and the river might currently be low enough to wade across. I'm aiming to head there sometime this week, I'll tell you if I have success in getting to the site.

Some lovely finds Tom and a fun day out albeit a bit treacherous. I would hazard a guess at the doggie from the beach being an Airdale terrier?
