@@shafqatishan437 @Shafqat Ishan This has not always been true relative to megafauna over the last 10,000 years. In the americas if man was responsible, the early americans were involved. What the more recent invading/immigrating europeans did was greatly reduce game and now those species that survived are coming back in many cases. In africa today it is poachers, farmers, and ranchers that are exterminating game. The extermination of tigers and lions from Iran were likely done by Iranians for example. Some history of lions and extinction: the lion is not only native to Africa. Even today there is a wild lion population in the Gir Forest, Western India. And I say "even today", because up the the early 20th century lions also lived in North Africa and the Middle East. The last one in Morocco was killed in 1922 and the last one in Iran was seen around 1940. In the Middle Ages, lions were also present in Anatolia and the Caucasus, and in Ancient times they inhabited what is now Greece and Bulgaria. Tigers: The Caspian tiger was a Panthera tigris tigris population native to eastern Turkey, northern Iran, Mesopotamia, the Caucasus around the Caspian Sea, Central Asia to northern Afghanistan, and the Xinjiang region in western China.[2] Until the Middle Ages, it was also present in Ukraine and southern Russia.[3] It inhabited sparse forests and riverine corridors in this region until the 1970s.[1] This population was regarded as a distinct subspecies and assessed as extinct in 2003.[4] Results of a phylogeographic analysis evinces that the Caspian and Siberian tiger populations shared a common continuous geographic distribution until the early 19th century.[5] Some Caspian tigers were intermediate in size between Siberian and Bengal tigers.[3][6][7] It was also called Balkhash tiger, Hyrcanian tiger, Turanian tiger,[4] and Mazandaran tiger (Persian: ببرِ مازندران).[8]

@@loquat44-40 I'm not talking about late Pleistocene megafauna extinction or any natural event. I'm not denying anything you mentioned, but the fact remains same. The British, French and other colonials as well as the much later soviets, they killed off most of these species that existed for thousands of years. Before them, most of the species did survive for a long time despite humans hunting them.

In the state of Chihuahua in the Sierra Madre Occidental, there is a protected natural area called "Campo Verde" where more than 100 american black bears have been counted and many of them have brown fur. A couple of years ago a camera trap set up by a rancher took a picture of a large brown bear that could easily be mistaken for a grizzly bear.

@@loquat44-40 They kill bears messing around their property and livestock. Ranchers aren't hikers, usually they don't venture into remote and difficult to access areas. In the region where I live black bears were thought to be exctinct even by some natives living in the mountains, but actually they persisted in remote areas with rugged terrain, unaccessible by vehicle not even on horseback. Getting in those areas is so difficult and potentially dangerous that poachers don't think that it's worth the risk, the time and the effort just to get a bear that you'll probably fail to catch or kill anyway! When the density of a species gets very low, its population becomes cryptic, especially with smart species which can adopt conflict-avoidance strategy. This being said I agree the probability of the grizzly persistence over there is very low...
@loquat44-40
@loquat44-40 2 жыл бұрын
@@LeChristEstRoi Yes it can happen if for some reason the ranches do not run cattle in a certain remote area and do not lease it out for hunting. A significant amount of grazing land in the USA is owned by the national forest service and the cattle are driven normally out of the mountain grazing areas before winter. If bears are able to hibernate they can avoid the winter when detection from a plane or just from the tracks is easier. That always leaves open the question of bigfoot.

More than likely, they could’ve been referring to black bears. Black bears used to be common throughout much of Texas, and still live in the southwest corner of the state, in and around Big Bend National Park As far as I know, there’s only been one report of a grizzly bear in Texas, which was shot back in 1890 in the Davis Mountains of west TX.

I'd be in favor of selective breeding of grizzly bears to make them somewhat smaller and lighter with silver to recreate the Mexican grizzly. In the same way I think Siberian tigers should be selectively bred slightly smaller and with thinner stripes to recreate the Caspian tiger, and Australian black swans should be bred bigger to recreate the ones New Zealand once had.
