Greetings from Scotland Andy it's good to watch someone who can read the water and understands the fly life I have been lucky enough to fish some great water and when I started upstream nymphing it was amazing how you would catch fish all day when no hatch was on. I fished Frank sawyers Avon beat when posted to warminster. We still have a full time keeper on it and I go down to fish it most years .if you ever want to fish the hallowed water I will be heading there in June you are welcome . Also I get a lot of seatrout in the Tay estuary the ythan too you are welcome to stay with me and try your hand for some big seatrout .

This was basically me fishing the other day, except I didn’t get Shergar and red rum. Duo wasn’t on point it was the dry in the end but super hard work, river was on its bones super clear, a small fart was spooking fish. Awesome as usual mate, showing the way.

Nice video Andy, but Where's IB? That is a beautiful little stream you were fishing. Are those all wild Trout? It's funny how just when you think you know what the fish are going to do they go and do something different! Nice job with the persistence, you definitely earned that fish at the end.

Great video Andy! After watching your Micro Streamer vid I pulled out a Flash Damsel river side, shortened it and used it as a micro streamer and had good success on my last two trips to the Dove. Thanks for introducing me to yet again another technique 👌
@IBandAndyFishing3 жыл бұрын
Great stuff, it's one of the best ways to catch them at this time of year! Dove has been tough so far this season I think, how have you found it?
@timphilp31133 жыл бұрын
@@IBandAndyFishing Yeah, it's been tough at times but during this last year it's been nice to get out. The river levels can make it challenging, especially the Dove. The 'missing tree' thats now lodged in the middle is a difficult feature to fish around. I've fished mainly nymph on the #2 and the streamers. Some cracking Grayling and Browns. I gave you a 👋 from the bank on Wednesday evening whilst you were guiding. Hope your customers had some luck.

@MrSofthackle3 жыл бұрын
Looks like you caught some really nice browns. I’ve found that when fish refuse my dries I’ve caught them on softhackles fished upstream. It looks like they were taking emergers instead of the adults. Good job.

These were definitely on those caddis Dale,I just got the wrong species of insect in the first few minutes, a pretty poor assumption on my part 🙈😂

Some lovely trout. Going try a bit more with the small streamers this season despite the fact they failed first time out.
@IBandAndyFishing3 жыл бұрын
I get the feeling that in a slightly larger water (than a tiny brook) these micro streamers have to be fished so close to the snags and structure, real hail Mary casts
@jorvikangler3 жыл бұрын
@@IBandAndyFishing Oh yes. If you're not spending as much time removing flies from tree roots aa you are fishing you're not fishing them close enough.
@laurieharper15263 жыл бұрын
Great stuff. Just shows that the spots that look fishy to us aren't necessarily where they are. I was out today and waded through less than a foot of water in the margins and startled a good fish. I keep telling myself to fish up every run as I walk upstream, but it's hard to resist the lure of "fishy" looking spots in the distance. One day hopefully I'll learn. Splendid old warrior on the streamer.
@IBandAndyFishing3 жыл бұрын
Lethal isn't it? I spent the whole evening asking myself if they were in the very shallow stuff all day! It's pretty difficult to fish every fishy spot, you'll never get anywhere. Fly angler's problems! 😂

Hi Andy, what weight of line are you using on your 7ft 2# rod please ?
@kyle92563 жыл бұрын
What length of leader do u use on both set ups using the 7ft rod in that size of river? Thanks andy
@IBandAndyFishing3 жыл бұрын
So I had a 9' tapered leader which I cut the thinnest 18" off. To this I attached either the duo klink or 4' of 6x to the dry fly 👍

Cold water fishing is good.. why do you want to wait for the water to warm up?
@patrickmorris89343 жыл бұрын
@@quickplaya I'm not waiting, I'm just catching practically nothing! We're meltwater here in France, so it's tough times. Still 1 degree in the water, today. And the fish are super skinny! Poor things.
