Welcome to the world of micro-steamers Andy. I tie them down to a size 14 jig hook. I am teaching my 8 year old son to fly fish and these are a great way to get him started as the presentation is not super critical. One technique that works great in ponds and lakes is to tie a micro streamer under a fat Chernobyl Ant and give it a slow skitterish retrieve with lots of pauses. The Perch and Pan fish will take them both enthusiastically and it is lots of action to keep the kids interested. I imagine it would work for trout too but I have not tried it on trout water yet.

@kerrypitt97893 жыл бұрын
@@IBandAndyFishing streamers have been around a very long time. To me that is just snobbery. So they want to stay in the past only when it suits them? Yet they use Carbon rods, plastic fly lines, mono leaders, metal redls, even eyes in rods are not original. The original fishing rod fly or no, was a three piece rod. The bottom was winter Hazel, the middle was Summer harvested Hazel and the top piece was either an Apple or cherry shoot seasoned. Held together by being cut on a bias and laced with leather. The line was black braided stallion tail hair either braided or furled. The leaders or tippet was a strand of black tail hair or for a lighter tippet white or gray. The horse hair line was carefully cleaned and treated and passed on to the next generation. Silk fly lines were a technological improvement. Anyone who turns fly fishing into a game of snobbery, does not belong on the water.

So the euro indicator was an experiment really, I thought there might be instances where might be an opportunity to fish the streamers sort of euro style, but I hadn't considered that they'd be way too heavy for the river 🙈😂 It was quite handy though as you could use it to see the line tightening while jigging the flies through.
