Good morning Taylor, thanks again for yet another informative video. I really like the different views of your barn inside and out, and attached buildings and the reason you choose to go with cross bred cows. They are hardier, give better milk, and perfect for you area of our country. I hope your cow recovers from her bad hoof especially with all of the care Brent and you gave her. I do hope that you get a chance to buy that farm some day because your skills and knowledge are perfect for farming. Your videos seem to be clearer both in view and sound. Say hi to Brent and am looking forward to your next video. 😊

Tay, another great video. The barn tour was great. The farm I grew up on was built in the 1800's. We had between 40 to 50 Milkers at all times. Hay loft was upstairs, cows on the bottom. Had a trap door in the hay loft to drop hay down. Had a vertical silo on one end and a door to the pasture on the other. Milk house was separate from the barn. We used cans back then. No bulk storage. Had to bring the milk to the creamery everyday. Love your equipment, we used sickle bar mowers and hay rakes. Square baler for bales. Loved doing haying. My job was the raking. Also stacked the bales on the wagon. Glad to say never lost a bale off the wagon. Maintenance is always a pain, but was necessary. Enjoy your day. God bless

Unfortunately if you buy a farm nowadays you need at least twice the production you have there now ! Im sure Brent either has the farm paid for or because its been in his family for years his payments are affordable for his production! The only way you could do it at this time is if Brent finances you like rent to own! In order for you to make it when you start out you'd need close to new equipment so you jave very low maintenance costs for a few years while your getting established! Unfortunately nice enjoyable farms don't pay the bills no more! I wish you male your dream for real!!!
@tayfarms
@tayfarms Жыл бұрын
Respectfully I disagree, profit margins are fairly equal whether large or small. Larger farms require more laborers, larger equipment, and far more technology to run efficiently. Not to mention the government money being taken. Small operation do have to be more business savvy and willing to try new things and adapt but I believe that’s true of all businesses in this economy. I agree it will be tuff but where there is a will there’s a way!
@stevenww3560
@stevenww3560 Жыл бұрын
The big farmers get at paid more per hundred for their milk simply because its lot more milk quality don't matter just bulk does ! Which means if your getting 16 dollars per hundred weight theyre getting 19 to 24 per hundred! If they enroll in a immigrant plan through our government they get plenty of perks including half the wages they pay the government reimburses! Will I won't detail it just saying banks don't like dealing with small businesses as a rule and they especially don't like small farmers ! Dont forget their cows are pushed to make 80 plus pound herd average also ! Yes that means a 4 year old cow is considered old which sucks but it is what it is! We definitely need to go back old fashioned ways! I love the old farming style!
