Last minute repairs - Spring Isolator Install (Fail) on my 71 Nova

The last "issue" I have with my 71 Chevy Nova LS Turbo before leaving for the 2024 Hot Rod Power Tour is a very loud rattle/vibration that seems to be coming from the passenger side front spring. My idea is to install a spring "isolator/cushion" to stop the noise. Things did NOT go as planned.

Meaning that you show the failures along with the successes and the disappointment when things don’t go right after repeated attempts but you never give up until you get it right! Best thing to probably do is have a spring place band the spring while it’s compressed them when installed, cut the bands. When I worked in the grocery stocre from 1970-75 we bailed bardboard into large bails in a cage and used to metal flat bands that were ratcheted with a band tightened then used a red clip and clip locking tool with long arms and a ball at the end of each handle to lock the band in place. I’m sure it’s the same tool I used.

Some cars of that era came with coil spring spacers between the spring and the lower arm. Havent seen the ones you have. In theory you could split fuel hose and tape it on the top of the spring coil as a barrier.

This is where GM Engineers were sleeping at the wheel while Mopar’s were getting torsion bars.

Later cars use rubber that encapsulates the first coil of the spring. Heater hose works just as well. Those aftermarket isolator discs never fit.

The bottom end of the front springs should end up between the two "drain holes" in the lower control arm

I don’t remember there being an isolator but if there was it didn’t go back in. 3” exhaust and flowmasters made it impossible to hear lol. Car is much quieter now but added Viking coil overs and I don’t hear any noise (no isolator)
