One of the greatest, poetic songwriters of our time. One of my favorite songs of Bruce's and the f**kin' thing has no rhymes except the chorus. God Bless the vessel Bruce Cockburn for bringing such beauty into our lives.

Christmas eve in the 'Year of First's' and this song slid me over the edge... I can't stop crying as I listen. So grateful my sister Christine's long drawn out time of pain is over, and though that's good, and right, I find myself missing her, wishing I could hold her hand and soothe her, me such a mess of tears, snot, smiles and stinging eyes and selfishness.... remembering her, appreciating her, feeling her Presence and yet...yet....even though it's not enough, it has to be enough. Not many as kind and gentle and radiant as she have graced this world. Her name in this life was Christine Ann. Blessing's upon her Soul, nestled in the Heart of the Creator. If you are so inclined, whoever you are and wherever you read this...say a prayer for her.

Pried loose? I actually love this phrase because of its double meaning. Is it "Pried Loose" or "Pride loose"? Sorry for your loss. I know this too. My spouse died 10 years ago...

great stumble here! I heard this on Q when it aired last year, hoped his opening song in the studio would be THIS one, then hit the ceiling singing dancing and crying through it, while writing to Q and Bruce in a flurry of ecstatic words, which was announced the following day as the"Letter of the Day". Whew, such fury and love.

Bruce is a modern prophet, sometimes, a lot sad to say, rejected by organised "church" but has a message for us all

Bruce is a talented and gifted voice of gentle dissension in a world of mediocrity... what would you do that was different if it were the last night of the world... lift a glass to Bruce Cockburn....

pretty sure this is not a baritone Manzer, I have one of her wedge models, she used to work with Jean Larrivee, there is a family thread thru all these guitars?

Pat & Carlos have good company. Bruce was playing Linda's guitars before any of them. He moved on to her guitars when Jean Larrivee stopped hand building instruments himself.

My moms boyfriend took us to see Bruce when he came through our area. Awesome, I was taken away. I'm learning wondering where the lions are as we speak. Only thing I can't get over is how ugly the guitar strap is..

I was wondering why it was such a low rating, that is until I heard him sing, not so much the singing but the lyrics.
