Drums really take the groove of punk aesthetic if they are out, feels very different hearing just the guitars. (Perhaps the bass also adds something, because the verse chords are soft)

Question - in the verse he hangs on to the G it seems kind of long. Isn’t there a lower note after that for instance in the parts that are sang “I feel left out?” Maybe the bass drops to a lower note and that’s what I’m hearing

Yes. Those are called octaves and you just want to mute the inbetween string with your pointer finger.

About the only way you could get a more accurate version would be to play it a little dirtier. Strumming the muted strings so you get that atonal thud, maybe a few extra upstrokes here and there, occasional slides between chords, etc. His version is really freaking good, and tablature wise I don't think you'd find a better version out there.
