what a grat edit. Someone has an idea how the beginning (for example the lantern-part) is made? It kind looks like stop motion, but I dont get it

All the frames are from completely different lanterns (that look the same) and then perfectly overlayed so they are in the same spot in the frame. This way the background changes completely and the lantern changes slightly. It looks fucking sick but takes a looooot of time.
