No chicken update! The things you guys talk about on potty mouth as well as you when you show the beetroot i notice as well; everyting stays so tiny for weeks, months even. ( so not a compost thingy since i live in Belgium and we use differend brands and there isn´t peatfree compost over here)And you need the plants to grow to make any chance toward the slug army. So frustrating but on the other hand, i don´t grow foxes in my garden or badgers, so could be worse 😂 Lots of love from Belgium

Sprayer idea - wrapping rubber bands over the bit you want to grip might help, or if you want something a bit more nice looking, you can get rubber band things to open jars with (they look like giant rubber band and aren't usually too much). IF you have any spare, could you put a layer of the rodent mesh over and around the fox hole before you refill it to stop them burrowing up in the area?

Cooking tip: Another option for the broad beans if you pop the beans once cooked and deep fry the casing, tossed in chilli, salt and a touch of cumin. Amazing with a beer or 2

Hi Jessie and your Mum, your beans are looking very healthy & will look loveky climbing over your arches too. I'm fed up losing plants to slugs too, it's been a very strange season. The weather has been wierd too 🙄 I have been to my plot today and it was very fine rain, so, I had a lot of potting up to do & tyding in my polytunnel so, didn't mind, now the sunshine is shining and not a cloud 🙄 plenty of harvesting too. Lots of planting done too. Polytunnel is coming together and I hope those foxes go away. So pleased your kitchen floor is done. Lovely video update. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊

Slugs and snails are the worst I have known this season. I have had to sit all vulnerable sowings in the coldframe waiting to go out when it dries up a bit and have put them in large gravel trays sat on upturned trays with a moat of water around them. You've got to laugh or you'd cry. So enjoy your vlogs Jess 😊

Hey Jess, You need a yellow Mesto Sprayer. It is German made and is AWESOME. It even sprays upside down. Company has been in busines for over 100 years. Great product. (Your okra probably got too cold. It does not like to ever go below 15. The hotter the better for that plant. Sow again.)

I've been away for 3 days and have come back to rust on 50% of my garlic, black fly on my globe artichoke and dahlias. I also have them on my broad beans but had been dealing with that. As well as blight on my swift potatoes! They are in pots, so have moved them away from others but I'm thinking of taking them home and plonking them in the garden. I haven't had a slug issue since I used the nematodes you mentioned a while back but my mum had 11 tomatoes out of 11 slugged and some cucumbers, so I will be getting her some nematodes too. Feeling quite despondent this week.

Small tragedy - deer found my tomatoes. Ate more than half of my Sart Roloise, a good bir of an Alice's Dream, a part of Black Krim. Luckily I gave SartR and Alice's Dream to two neighbors, so I should at least get to taste them. Also, bathtubs are also useful for storing bumper crops of winter squash if you have a bathroom that stays cold all winter. Cheers

Love that artwork on the home shed door! TBH, with that amount of chard, it's probably easier to wash in the bath. Weather has been a bit pants other than that week in May. Thanks for showing us the oil spray trick. Those rats are giving my sprouts a hard time. Sorry to hear about your courgettes! We had just planted out one and it died. We planted another in its place and it got attacked by slugs/snails. We have a load of pots on the patio but are in the process of clearing this section to jet wash the rest of it and hopefully send the slimy buggers to the salty water tub! Have a great week and take care!

Having same problem with our succession sown beetroot seedlings in modules. First sowing was direct. They too stalled and only now making an effort. Your chard looks fantastic and so giving this time of year. We too were relying on asparagus. Not sure if you like broccoli….. we transplanted Mammoth and tender stem greens in March under mesh and they’re ready to harvest now. Maybe something to consider for next year during this gap. Slugs are bad this year for sure. Right up there with weather forecasts!!! 😄

Hi Jessie, the weather is absolutely horrible. I had the same problem with my potatoes (swift) grown in buckets. I took them out as well, just incase. The others are fine for now. Foxes can be a real pain in London. One tried to dig a 2nd chanel tunnel in the middle of my lawn in the backgarden when I lived in Greenwich. No problemo hier in South Yorkshire tho.

My experience of germination has been patchy this year - good result with broad beans, runner beans ok (but nowhere near 80% success), after 3 fails I've given up on dwarf french beans (Ferrari), and opted for Cobra. 10 seeds in two of the little green trays have yielded at 40% with the first try - now waiting for results from the second try. 🤔😖

Hope the smelly fix works 😂. Human urine does too apparently and less messy than the other one you mentioned last week. Oh my the bean arch should be absolutely stunning in summer. I’m trying Vicks vaporub around some of my pots because I found slugs on my gorgeous new dahlias. Nope as I sit here it’s pouring rain and high winds, I’ll never get outside to garden 😢. The Poly Fort Knox looks fab and should work a treat 🤞🤞. I use my calendar and I can search back years and a lot less space consumption for those photos. Everything is behind here too but then it is October oh wait nope June 🤦‍♀️. Doesn’t the FBB attract critters too? I hope all the bail comes up for you 🤞🤞, it should be fun. Have a most wonderful week ladies ❤, Ali 🌧️🌧️🇨🇦
