Drove 2 months shy of 45 years before retirement.started in 77 legally. If there was ever a song that summed up my life, this is it. I never wore sandles or shorts. Always jeans and boots. I learned the respect of freedom and all its responsibilities. Life was amazing back then. To live the life that I have lived was a true blessing. I am, the last of the cowboys. I so miss my cowboy 😔💔🤠🚛 He drove several million miles with no accidents. He passed away October 3, 2014 and he is greatly missed. He was the best husband, Dad and Bumpa. He stood 6'4", size 16 boot, looked mean and tough but that was just looks. He never raised his voice or hand to me, that is the definition of a real man. A few days before he passed away he told me that he wished he could box us all up and take us with him. He was too young at 60 years old to be taken 😔 He hauled cement, rock, fly ash and developed Silicosis( black lung disease). I miss the sound of the air breaks as he pulled into our gravel drive on this old farm. He was raised here, we raised our children here and now our grandchildren make memories here. He was to all of us The Man, The Myth and A Pure Legend 🤠😇💔

The trains want all goods etc to go by rail and take all truck drivers jobs away from them so the rigs sit collecting dust! According to married 2 trucking drivers are killing another driver! I've been on the road 10 years, million miler, and I learned how to make a decent living outlaw trucking from several old timers who took me under their wings. God bless those guys there are too few of them left. The more numerous elog steering wheel holders don't hold a candle next to those Gentlemen of the Road.

I don't know why but as soon as the trucks started showing up I started crying. Makes me think of my dad and all that he's taught me. 61 years trucking, and still going. They don't make drivers like they used to.. Sure thankful for all that he's taught me. And thankful for Big Rig Videos for sharing this song and video. Time to go polish on the rig and keep trucking.

I was a 3rd generation trucker. Screwed around left and got in the oilfield. Man I miss it everyday. It gets in your blood quick, kids. Be careful. It’s not all about the money. It’s about that freedom of rolling down I-80 middle of the night a few cars in sight with the radio blasting. You’re your own king out there. Now I got this supervisor within spitting distance😂 get me back on the road! I need it

Ive been driving for 22 years. I drive a 1998 Peterbilt 379 with maual windows and locks and the air works when it wants to. 12.7 Detroit with a 10 speed and 3.55 rears. I pull flatbed tarping, chaining and strapping. These new drivers with these fancy trucks don't know how good they have it with the power windows, air that blows cold and a comfortable seat. The truck I drive gets it done week in and week out though, and i make a pretty good living doing it.

its a sad day my friends... i still look at every truck with respect and admiration of what you do.. but in the day we live in, more and more foreigners are behind the wheel.. they dont respect where trucking came from and the ones that came before them. and im sorry to offend but it pisses me off. i remember the day when you could jump on a cb and talk to the most amazing people. now though its like that trucking brotherhood is gone. and it pains me. noone speaks the same language and dont understand that brotherhood of the road. so ill say this for those on the road that are seeing what i am. im sorry but you are not forgotten. we love you guys. keep on trucking and keep it between the ditches. america loves you!

I have been around guys who have been driving down the road and they say out loud "they actually pay me for this" and have the biggest smile on their face. Some of these rigs are beyond gorgeous and you can see how all of these people just love what they do. I am a 3rd generation driver and i couldn't be prouder!!! Great video Sir. Nice work.

Recently retired after 50 years now at age 72 . Trucking is such a big part of who I am that now I feel a bit lost. It would take a book to tell the changes I saw in the industry thru the years.
