movies from the late 70's through the 86's Were great, You got Robo-Cop, Smokey and the bandit, Convoy, Top Gun and Dukes of hazard. Most of them were about going against expectations of others and going through a rough patch of life and ending in a good way. I'm glad to see tv before everything went to CGI or Digitally altered media.

I wish Sam Peckinpah's initial two-and-a-half hour version existed before they fired him and edited down to 90 minutes but at this point I'm pretty positive any existing footage from this movie has long been thrown out or destroyed. Studios did not hold onto extra reels like they do now since most everything is digital and I'm not even sure if they still use actual 35mm film cameras anymore

High end had "side bands" channels between normal channels so a 40 channel could have 120 channels. But very few had side band CB. If you were not around then, they were kind of like a cell phone, but you could only talk to people close to you. Channel 19 was a channel people kept tuned to.
@olegdivov3 жыл бұрын

C.W. McCall was William Fries, a commercial artist and musician who worked in advertising. He created C.W. McCall for an Old Home Bread advertising campaign in the early '70s. He wrote the lyrics and sang the song heard in the ad, while Chip Davis, who worked for the same ad firm, wrote the music. (Davis founded the group Mannheim Steamroller in 1974.) The ad was a hit and won a Clio Award, leading to more ads and a series of C.W. McCall singles and albums. "Convoy" was his biggest hit, but he had 5 other singles reach the top twenty or better on the country charts. He died in 2022.

@@Lionn8563 At the time (late 70s) it was a nationwide fad with new lingo, music and movies like Smokey and the Bandit and Convoy. It was, to most non-truckers, a novel way to fight back against the new 55 mph speed limit and the scourge of radar. There was a boom in the radar detector market. And it introduced a lot of drivers to the American big truck culture. My long distance driving days are over and the interstates are so crammed now compared to the 70s that cross-talk with endless columns of 18 wheelers seems pointless.

This was an iconic movie which launched a CB radio craze over here, my friends and I all had them in our cars, gave ourselves “handles” and went on crazy midnight “convoys” of our own 😄

I just seen one a few days ago. Took me by surprise. Freightliner 😎

@@kevinkurtz9889 I see one almost every day on my way home from work. Big chrome visor and a very narrow windshield. It looks like its right on top of you even when its 50 yards away. very cool.

We have plenty of them here in Australia. Kenworths are pretty popular, but we have a lot of European ones here now too..Mercedes, DAF's, Scania's are the most common ones. Freightliner CO's are another one as well.
