Part three of this series. With a bit more work and effort put in than Part Two, watch as we enter the locomotive, look around the cab area, the distinctively loud blowers go on and off as I'm alone in the cab, the Driver/Engineer tests the regenerative brake relays and a ''singing'' run-by with a Shosholoza Meyl passenger train through Parow. A mini-slide is included showing some of the locomotives that didn't make it and some of the many that were rebuilt to 18E's. Images from Mr Piet Conradie and Col André Kritzinger. Check out their amazing photography work on the web. Please visit Piet Conradie's channel: / oldsteamloco

Greetings to Reese Lourens. My name is Roberto I was a train driver at Mbilo Depot, I don't remember the year and the date which this video was taken but if my memory serve me well it was 2009,2010 or2011 when I came down with a goods train consist of tanks from Danskraal Ladysmith Kwazulu Natal to Durban, when I got to Mooiriver Station just at the middle of the station I saw two whites guys with cameras pointing to our train, after we passed, through the station they run to the car which was waiting and went to the following stations Nottingham station, Balgowan station, Lions River station, Cedara station PMB station and the last station was Cato Ridge station. I will be happy if you can show me that video please if you still got it.

The four resistance blowers do noy work at random!in both combinations ser and par they are activated when the throttle is opened from first notch to 19th full field in order to cool the prpgressive accell. Resistance banks.they cut out in weak field notch 20 to22.they run at idle during regen braking.when the throttle is moved forward again to reduce power and speed theblowers and resistorswill operate as inthe opening procedure.as we used to say ge korsten willagain start singing reen reen lieflike reen!

Ok then, go ahead. I would likt to show you what happened last year on 23rd november in my city's station: www.aradon.ro/accident-feroviar-in-gara-cfr-aradul-nou-o-locomotiva-a-lovit-mai-multe-vagoane-cisterna-incarcate-cu-motorina/1737384 I think that you know the place from my videos by now... Too bad I was at school when it happened. Also, I will enter a long pause in shooting trains because of schoolwork... I'm in the 8th grade and you know... the capacity exams...

Hi are they're any Class 6E1s to be preserved in the near future?

Hey there. These are the last 6E1's that are left. They will still be around for a while. Not sure what's going to happen if the Afro 4000's or Afro-Duals take over, that is if, they do. Otherwise 22E and 23E locos. Hope it helps.

I know the best locomotives of 6E1s that should get preserved, the veteran Series 3 class, E 1362 needs to be saved as it is heritage and I would love it to join the other historic heritage engines in Bloemfontein Loco Depot where preserved Class 3E E201, Class 4E E258, Class 5E E259, and Class 5E1 series 2 E613 are at, E 1362 has worked a hard life and indeed needs to be preserved, so to ask you why not organise some one to have a discussion to save E 1362 for preservation, Series 4 loco E 1464 is one that needs to be saved for preservation, :) You will have to have words about a society to preserve E 1362, she deserves a new leaf of life, but although to tell you the first 6E1 to be saved is one of the Series 4 batch, world rail speed record breaker, E 1525 is being preserved for the national collection by the SA Heritage Agency and Transnet Foundation,

Yes indeed Sir. And to think E1525 broke the world speed record, but according to some news website, "morocco has Africa's first high-speed train". Metroblitz in SA was, and the locomotives, even the railway stock and Schneffel Highspeed Bogie was invented and built here. It disgusts Me how rich history like that gets ignored and scrapped. Thanks for the comment. ;) Best Regards.
