Ellie has Dina's bracelet on when she returns to the farm house. She didn't have the bracelet when she left to find Abby. And Jesse's parents wrote a letter saying Ellie, Dina and JJ should go live with them in Jackson. Part 3 Ellie will definitely die. And I hope we don't play 50% of the game as Abby. I don't like her at all. She is a trash person. She would've killed Dina after knowing she's pregnan. And she cheated with her pregnant friends man.

Guys I just found out about doing a ride on reddit and stuffs like this. When Ellie (in the final) returns to the farm she wears Dina's bracelet (which she did not have in Santa Barbara), new clothes, she has no weapons and the wounds on her fingers have been closed. Do you know what this means? That the farm scene, the final scene, doesn't happen right after the bossfight with Abby, but later. It means that after almost killing Abby, Ellie returned to Jackson where she also found Dina (otherwise it is not clear who would have given him the bracelet) and on the farm she did not go hoping to find Dina, but only to play the guitar of Joel for the last time since this is like forgiving him. Ellie hasn't lost everything and the ending is not a sad ending, in the last scene Ellie is RETURNING to Jackson, where in all probability Dina is still waiting for her. I'm not sure Dina is in Jackson waiting for her, but the only SURE thing is that after the bossfight with Abby Ellie she returned to Jackson, and then left for the farm where she had left Joel's guitar.

I think that in Part 3 Abby meets up with the fireflies but she's going to realize that the fireflies are not what it seems and that the fireflies want to use Ellie ( the Cure ) as political leverage to control the world and somehow it is going to draw a inner-conflict between Abby and the Fireflies in which Ellie and Abby are going to have to team up to take out the Fireflies.

As someone with PTSD, I really liked the ending of this game. This is just my opinion, but for me - At the end Ellie was suffering from PTSD, obviously - the not sleeping, not eating, the flashbacks, the going off by herself into the woods, and the feeling she had - that she HAD to go after Abby - is realistic, to me. Its difficult to describe to anyone without it, but PTSD can often feel like you are physically trapped with no way out of your own reality. That your whole life is closing in on you. That the past is forever there, suffocating you. Obviously you relive it through flashbacks, but it's more than that. It's more than just bad memories. When Ellie said she had to go after Abby, it was because she felt she had to, not because she wanted to - She wanted to stay with her new family, but she had to stop her brain reliving her traumatic past again and again. She had to escape the trap, and she felt that the only way out was to kill Abby - the person who, really, made her feel trapped to begin with. But i think she knew, deep down, it wouldn't help her escape. But hey, desperate times, amiright? When Ellie finally confronted Abby, what were her words? "I can't let you leave". She could have said anything else. "I won't let you leave", or "I'm going to kill you". Those would be words from someone confident, someone making the rules. But she didn't. Those words, "I can't let you leave" were very specific. They're the words of someone not in control - someone who feels they didn't make the decision. A soldier following orders would say "I can't let you leave". Or someone feeling like they had no choice in the matter, someone trapped - like Ellie. At the very end, Ellie didn't have to kill Abby. When she was on the verge of killing Abby, when Abby couldn't fight back and was about to drown, Ellie had basically won at that point. It didn't matter if Abby lived or died past that point, as there was nothing Abby could have done to change the outcome, and Ellie probably realised that she had "won". And it didn't help. There was no opening of the trap, it didn't fix anything, so she let Abby go and she wept. Still trapped. it wasn't until she got back, sat alone with the guitar she could no longer play, and thought about Joel and forgiveness that, maybe, she realised that the only was out of the trap was to forgive the mistakes of the past. Forgive yourself for not being able to change the past. Forgive others for being human. I dunno. Maybe i'm just seeing what i want to see, see what makes sense to me. But still, i liked the ending. :) People complain about it, saying Ellie didn't even get revenge against Abby. But they miss the fact that, Ellie already failed to get revenge when Abby stormed the theatre and kicked their asses and then let them all go (well... mostly everyone). Everything after the farmhouse - Ellie isn't going for revenge. She's going because she feels like she has to. To try fix herself.

Abby finds the firefly and turns out they’re still not giving up on finding the cure, which also means hunting Ellie. Abby, having learned her lessons, and reflecting on how Ellie forgave her after all, she withhold information about Ellie and Jackson town and try to steer them away. Firefly eventually found a lead to Jackson and attack the town and probably take Ellie away. Abby decides then and there to intervene and side with survivors of Jackson. Things go awkwardly since they have a dilemma about what she has done. But due to the circumstance, they team up (probably with Tommy, since Dina got a child) and go after the Firefly. Thus begins a redemption arc for Abby. Though Ellie wished she could have given her life for the cure, she can’t let it happen now since she’s having a life with Dina and her child and their camp was destroyed. She’s starting to feel how good it is to be alive, and thankful for what Joel did for her. He wanted her to live, and she couldn’t let him die for nothing. She decides to escape from the Firefly. And we switch back and forth between playing both characters until they find each other, then comes the final showdown. I feel like this would double down on the Part 2’s concept of forgiveness and breaking the cycle of revenge. And Part 3 would conclude on the concept of what can be born of forgiveness and redemption.

cdtZx4811 only a few leave out the good, but a majority do talk about the good with this game like for example the risk of naughty dog going for this narrative, “this Change is impactful and we definitely need more of that In-gaming because this is the reason why the modern warfare 1-3 and Black Ops 1-2 Grand theft Auto ,Metal Gear etc etc is beloved in gaming...because they took risk” ,they also talk about how beautiful the game is and how well animated the characters are and even the A.I being fantastic plus talk about how well the sound design of this game is and how it’s better than a lot of other games and even battle royales in generation etc etc. I didn’t like this game at all and regardless of my frustrations I looked up videos on why fans love this game and why people genuinely hate or dislike it and overall the criticism are way too valid due to the many inconsistencies,plot holes (various more of other problems of the story with some creators having blind hate towards the game that they’re unable to look beside the good things(these are the ones you’re referring towards) vs the fictional narrative of this sequel story with some creators being very non-genuine to their audience to make a quick buck and get in good graces with not just Sony and Naughty Dog but also some gaming social media sites

Naughty Dog killing their best character off in such a way that they did is what majorly helped make their story so good; The story wouldn't have worked as well as it did if they didn't kill Joel like that, since you needed to feel what Ellie felt. And Jesse was killed because that's just the nature of death - Real death isn't ceremonious like some of the movies you probably watch, death often happens in a flash, before you can even prepare yourself, and that's what makes the deaths in TLOU2 so great, because they really feel like _real_ deaths, to make you grieve as truly as possible, and it even extends to the enemies you kill too, because yes, they are real people that you're killing with real friends and family. And you're supposed to like Abby because her story, life, and character are just as valid as Ellie's, you're supposed to question and doubt your own selfish desires you felt riding behind Ellie, and finally learn to understand what Abby grew to understand after befriending an innocent youth of an enemy faction, and eventually what Ellie grew to understand by the end of the game: Let go of your selfish hate towards others, and finally learn to forgive. The people at the end of the game who _still_ wanted Ellie to kill Abby are the same people who have underdeveloped capacities for forgiveness, and are often more susceptible to demonizing the "other", and this game only teaches us that there's _a lot_ of people out there in the world who still have a lot of work to do on themselves.

I have heard/read/watched many different opinions of this game, ranging from 10/10 masterpiece to flawed trash, and while listening to this podcast I feel like people are putting waaay more thought/interpretation into that game than the developers themselves. I believe the Part 2 ending is a tragic ending, read through her poem then you know she was thinking about suicide. I think part 3 will not have a big time jump. The firefly regroup can be that they found a new group of medical experts or scientists in another country like in Mexico or even places like Japan if bold enough, and then Abby and Lev tries to reach out to Ellie. Meanwhile, Ellie, got hit to the rock bottom, journeying in the US, purposeless, ran into a travelor who is a really kind heart, outgoing, even intellectual young man(idea comes from Walter O'Brien from Scorpion, highly intellectural), but never had combat training, who is looking for his family or something(grew up in QZ, high level education, and got separated from his family due to a social disturbance stuff). A lot of side stories along the journey, tries to save up stranded travelers a couple of times. That young man can be really good at playing music instruments, brings up a lot of intriguing stuff, and makes him feel like the young Ellie. Let the 2/3 of the story to go along with this character, then gives an heroic death to this character when he tries to save a bunch of travelors or Ellie. The death sparks Ellie's life purpose, she learns the leason to live a life with a spirit. Someday, Abby reaches Ellie and Ellie agrees with meeting up with the doctors to extract the sample from her body. But this time, the medical staff only extract a small portion of the corticeps which is not life threatening. After that there can be a big time jump, Ellie returns to Jackson, seeing Jackson growing into a city of over 10K population, has its own government, own law, stardized military, etc. And Ellie becomes a combat officer in the Jackson military, leading the troops clears out the infected migration every year, and finds her peace with Joel. Do you guys think this can be a good story template? I mean the idea actually comes from Resident Evil where Chris got hit into rock bottom by his first partnar's death but finds himself with the second partnar, and becomes a person who lives the life with an open heart bravely moves on after his second partnar's death.

I liked Abby. But Ellie is the main character, and a trilogy should be her story. Abby as very important to let the players grow or at least understand why Ellie have grown and evolved. I would be perfectly fine with just ending a game with Ellie. And since the game has a very realistic approach there would be little to no sense that Abby and Ellies path was crossed again.

She's not an important character at all. Her story arc is complete and there is not much more to explore there, much like Joel's story arc was complete in TLoU. Furthermore, TLoU2 is still primarily about Ellie and the story of Abby serves to give the player insight into how Ellie's demonised vision of Abby is causing her to go on a vengeful rampage that only destroys herself and those around her. Abby's gameplay is designed to get us to see how Ellie is making a dire mistake by insisting on revenge and definitely takes a second place to Ellie's own story. So Abby's story is essentially a (big) subplot that is complete, not really of any importance for the future. But of course it is always possible to bring her back and create a new plot. That would imo not be advisable as the relationship between Ellie and Abby seems fully explored to me. I don't think there can be a game with both Ellie and Abby after this, only a story with either one of them and in that case it'll always be Ellie. I mean, they killed off Joel because his story arc was completed in TLoU and the relationship between Ellie and Joel was sufficiently explored (could obviously have been explored more, considering Joel's actions in the ending, but it was sufficiently explored to move on). In the case of Abby and Ellie there are even less story telling potential than there was for another Ellie/Joel story. I'd say the best way forward is a last Ellie game, in which her stories draws to a close.

Dina gave up on Ellie. So it makes sense if Ellie doesn’t go looking for her. But we definitely need a part 3 despite some of the fans disagreement of part 2. Either in part 3 Ellie takes up Joel’s mantle and she fines a young kid, trying to protect the kid, train the kid like how Joel did with Ellie and trying to make up for what happen with her and Joel. Or maybe she just pushes through, survives and actually fine some fireflies survivors and fight them like what Joel did. Many possible outcomes in part 3. I am 90% Dina gave it back to her, & there was a note from Jesses parents saying Ellie, Dina, & JJ are welcome to stay at Jackson anytime they want to come back. Then Ellie wounds look healed, she probably went to the farm house to just get some alone time to clear her mind. I would like to see TLOU 3 with a storyline like this. Ellie will be watching Dina and JJ in the background and see how happy they seem so she will decide to go find the fireflies and try to let them create a cure ultimately for Dina and JJ. Then Abby will realize that the fireflies are divided into two factions, one who legitimately wants to save the world and another who wants power, and will do what Joel did in the first game and save Ellie. Then they both work together to bring down the corrupt faction of the fireflies. And the end of the game leaves Ellie and the player with the choice of the cure or Ellie winning back Dina.

Humbly disagree, that was the best moment to switch timelines imo. Can you imagine how weird it would have been if we abruptly jumped to Abby's timeline without establishing her within the sequence? It would have been Ellie walking into the theatre, cut to black, and then...Abby running through the forest? Wouldn't have worked at all. And even if you mean after their fight in the theatre, what would be the point of allowing the player to experience that sequence only to repeat it 10 hours later as a different character, especially when you know it's EXACT outcome? Every bit of tension, intrigue and emotional conflict would be completely lost, and the player undoubtedly would have ZERO investment in Abby's story because they already know what happens.

I think it would’ve worked better if it was when Ellie tommy and Jesse were chilling in the theatre, I’m sure they could’ve smoothly transitioned to Abby running in the forest. When I was playing as Abby, the whole time I just wanted to get back to modern day because Ellie was at gunpoint. But guess what? People hated on this tlou2 as soon as the leaks came out and refused to give it a chance. I saw the leaks, expected the worst, and ended up playing a fantastic game. I'm always amazed at how some people can miss the entire point of the story. "Ellie should have killed Abby", did you not see where revenge got everyone? Anyone who seeked revenge ended up wounded, hurt, or dead. Ellie finally saw this at the end, and chose to end the cycle of violence. She decided to see Joel not as the old man beaten to death on the cold floor, but instead as the father figure who loved her. She got over her trauma

@@evolution7354 I respect your viewpoint of the game, I guess the only counterpoint I'd have is the bit about Ellie not shooting Abby. In my opinion, it's similar to why Abby didn't just shoot Joel. She tortured him because of the pain his actions had caused her, and at that moment in time she wasn't acting rationally. She probably should have just killed him quick and avoided the whole mess. Similarly, Ellie wouldn't have killed Abby with a gun, because Abby gave Ellie a chance to live in their fight beforehand. Maybe she was trying to honour her a small bit in that way. Despite her words of just wanting to end it all, Ellie held genuine hatred towards Abby and wanted her to suffer. At least, that's my viewpoint of the final fight

He didn't know who killed him, but he knew whoever it was, he probably deserved it and he accepted his fate knowing Ellie still loved him. Ellie is as much damaged by his lie as she is by his death. We are seeing the consequences of what his lie did to Ellie. When she tries to remember Joel, every memory is tainted by his lie. With Abby, she didn't just want Abby dead, she wanted to be the one to do it. She's been picturing Abby from the last time they met at the Theatre from nearly two years ago, imagining the showdown. But when she finds Abby she's a shadow of her former self. A bit of the old Ellie shows pity and cuts her down. Abby shows no aggression, no interest in fighting and only cares for Lev. She doesn't treat her as an enemy and tells her where the boats are so they can escape. She is conflicted. This isn't the Abby she has been imagining. Part of her wants to walk away and let it go and she almost does, but then she gets the flash of Joel's battered face. She could just stab Abby in back but she needs to instigate a fight. She needs to beat her. It's only at the point of killing Abby she gets the flash of her last memory ofJoel on the porch. That is her "Lev" moment and she pulls back. It's up to us to decide why and I think there are a lot of options. For me it was seeing some of Joel in Abby. Not the Joel who lied to her and hurt her but the Joel who was loving and protective. Who would fight tooth and nail and sacrifice everything for someone he loved. I think she had forgotten that in the end they were able to reconcile and he died knowing she did love him. I think she realised that Tommy had been right and this wasn't what Joel wanted. Yes, he would have hunted Abby to the ends of the earth and killed her without remorse if the situation was reversed but that's because he's Joel. He would never have wanted her to do that for him. In the end, the song was his not hers. If he was ever to lose her he would lose himself, but he would never want her to lose herself for him. In defeating Abby she regained the ability to finally choose who she wanted to be. In sparing Abby, she exorcises her demons and our Ellie re-emerges.

@@evolution7354 That beating he got was pretty drawn out. Joking aside, the consequences of his actions are drawn out through Ellies story and in her actions and flashbacks. Ellies story is the cost she paid for his lie. Abby's story is the cost she paid for him killing her dad. Nowhere in the either game is it hinted that Marlene had a daughter? In fact if anything Ellie was the closest thing she had to a daughter, which is part of the wrong Joel does by killing her and hiding it from Ellie. If a daughter suddenly pops up now you'd have the same internet fury. I agree that I don't think Abby's flashbacks worked as well as Ellies. Ellies felt like memories, Abby's (bar the first one which was her recurring dream) felt more like exposition and them trying to match Ellies story. But I never felt they were flashbacks within flashbacks as I saw Abby's story as a totally separate story that just happened to also contain flashbacks. Cultists worked fine for me. They gave an interesting juxtapose to the WLF and I liked the Lev, Yara and Abby dynamic. I had no problem with the Joel and Ellie parallel, it was both similar and different. Deaths are often shocking, why is that an issue? Jesse got to live on through his son (JJ). His parents visit them at the farm and it's most likely Dina has gone to live with them after Ellie leaves. Dina also uses his death as one of the things to try and get Ellie to stay at the farm so he didn't just get erased from existence like you claim. The Fireflies stood for the hope of a better world and a chance to look for the light.

The real world had a bigger emotional reaction to the story than the characters in the game did, for the people in the world of TLOU it was just another day, for many in real life it was a harrowing, stressful depressing event that has scarred them for life. I have a solid story for part 3 Please don't read further if you don't want spoilers coz i am 100% certain this will happen like 100% Here it goes The ending we saw in part 2 with ellie playing guitar and leaving it behind is the true ending for part 3 yes you heard it right and also its ending for the trilogy So part 3 take place right after boat fight when abby and lev leave with their boat just as they leave isaac comes there yes isaac is alive we didn't see his die as he took bullets on his back and no one mentioned that isaac died in game which means he comes there for revenge from abby and lev just as tommy go information about where abby was in Santa Barbara isaac too got this information and comes there for revenge as yara hit him with bullets and we all know how much he hates scars (lev is kid and he was willing to kill him) Now as ellie was about to leave on her boat she sees isaac came to kill abby and lev ellie leave to protect abby Now abby and ellie have common enemy i.e. isaac now as abby reached where she was going in her boat she finds that to reach fireflies she has to take on long journey kinda same as part 1 where joel and ellie went on to find fireflies But abby got stopped by isaac and team but as i said ellie is behind her and came to rescue abby and lev There will be Long fight on there journey together with abby, ellie and lev Somehow after defeating they reach fireflies and find out they are working on vaccine and merlene (most likely is alive) Why i am saying merlene is alive coz we never see her take bullet when joel shoot this will be a big twist Even if merlene is not alive there has been someone who is working on vaccine upon reaching there ellie volunteers for vaccine and is willing to sacrifice herself for the humankind Now the biggest twist happens right here Abby does not let ellie do the sacrifice but she herself is going to volunteer as she is also immune yes you heard it right this is already proved that she is immune in part 2 but not many people noticed it Here is how remember when ellie bit that cannibal guy in part 1 while fighting amd what did she said to him Ellie said she bit him and she is infected and now he is infected too and we can notice how ever so slightly he did change while fighting ellie but before he could turn ellie killed him it takes few days to fully take virus to show infection and make them zombie Now come back to the ellie and Abby's fight at theater where jesse died in one of the cut scene ellie bites abby in the arm Now after year or so later if abby was not immune how come she didn't turned Abby was immune here is one more argument that when merlene asks Abby's father if abby would have been immune would he do the same with abby too he said nothing absolutely nothing such a bigot he was maybe not he did what any father would do which is protect their child but he is bigot coz he was willing to sacrifice ellie who is also someone's daughter Now abby learned she is immune and jj in jackson Also notice there is a bracelet in her hand when she reaches here which was not in her hand when she was fighting abby at boat scene people already noticed it and concluded that she met dina before and she gave her this but i argue it wasn't dina's bracelet but rather it was from abby she gave a souvenir to ellie before she dies sacrificing herself for vaccine She came to farmhouse to pick her guitar which was given by joel but realising she can't play and this guitar will always remind him of joel so she left it there and we just saw the ending of trilogy I am 100% sure this will happen and Naughty Dogs has already begin working on the part 3 even before part 2 was released as they wanted to make all of this in 1 game but realised they can split in two parts to fully milk the cow and giving us a trilogy They know we will be angry by what happens in part 2 so part 3 is going to be chill happy ending kinda Also part 3 would not take 7 years or 10 years to release but it will be released within 5 years as In one of the interview from Neil Druckmann said they worked on part 2 for 1.5 years with the idea then scrpt it off changed whole development team of If they make a Last of us Part 3 Abby and Ellie should team up (Spoilers) So five or so years pass by everyone is at peace, Abby and lev are fireflies in Catalina Island and Ellie is enjoying life with Dina & J.J back in Jackson and it turns out a new Militia organization has risen and attacks Catalina Island and Jackson for resources and territory and they capture Dina ,JJ & Lev and take them to away to their HQ and now you got Abby and Ellie trying to figure out where they took them and who order these attacks on peaceful settlements and go out searching for them. During their voyage they eventually cross paths and Abby and Ellie see and understand their point of view of their story and apologize to one other for what they did in the past and that their only goal is to get back the people they care about so they team up and plan to take down this new organization. They mostly fight infected, clickers ETC during their journey until they get close to enemy territory and as the story progress they eventually form a friendship and care for each other and finally take down the organization or at least cripple it and rescue Dina,J.J, and lev or if they were to die in the beginning of the story than the game will be about avenging their love ones AKA(angry Ellie and angry Abby teaming up)lol

I heard this from another video. We all think Ellie lost Dina, JJ, and Tommy (basically everything). What we haven’t noticed is that before she went out to kill Abby again, she wasn’t wearing the bracelet Dina gave to her, but at the very end the camera zooms in on her hand and we notice she is wearing the bracelet. Also notice how her fingers seemed to have somewhat healed. ALSO notice how she was wearing completely different clothes. With all this info I think that she has returned to Jackson along with the others, and in the final scene she was just going to bring back the guitar, but in order for her to let Joel go, she decides to leave the guitar behind. Showing us that Ellie has moved on.

She dragged his friends on a path of pure revenge, then tortured and killed an old man for no reason other than revenge - and worse, after the guy saved her ass, what could have raised some doubt in her heart, but no... So I can't relate Joel and Abby at all. Maybe Abby and Ellie, but not Joel. Edit: and I don't see much future for the story, honestly. Joel died, Tommy is old and crippled, Ellie left everything behind. Only if it happens in far future, with new characters, maybe an aged Ellie in a "tutor" role for someone, something like that.

If they do a 3rd game it should be a prequel with Joel and tommy, as hunters and how he met Bill and Tess

In the first game shortly after Joel and Tess took Ellie, Joel took a nap while Tess went with Marlene to see the supplies they would get for taking Ellie. Ellie told Joel that he mumbles in his sleep. Then she told him that she hated bad dreams. I think they should make a The Last Of Us 3 and in the beginning Ellie wakes up and it was all a nightmare. And her and Joel have the same father daughter relationship they’ve always had.
