Spix macaws are technically extinct in the wild but a few hundred exist in captivity. They are partially released into a controlled environment that is much bigger in Brazil just enough netting for no predators to appear. It’s a semi-freedom as they are constantly monitored by cameras but it’s at least they still exist.
