Last PM Rush Hour over New Hyde Park Road crossing. 1/31/20

This road crossing will see its last rush hour train tonight. No service Saturday due to switch installation thru there. Monday 2/3/20 it will be closed to traffic forever and a new underpass will be constructed. 12th Street is the only remaining crossing for the foreseeable future and that crossing will close likely this summer when the new underpass on New Hyde Park Road is opened. The station will see its last rush hour this evening. A temporary station has been erected and will be open for business on 2/3/20. Note-I mention this is the last day of this crossing being in service. I had thought the railroad thru there would have been shut down the whole weekend like they have done so many times on past weekends. Sunday there will be service over the crossing but this was absolutely the last rush-hour over that crossing

Hey brother / my 4 year old is so into going to the Stewart Manor and NHP railroad crossings! These videos really help supplement. You should do tours. He asks me all these questions and I don’t know all the answers...

When I railfaned at Babylon, my uncle made me stay on the old pedestrian overpass. I caught all of the smoke from the old diesels.

Great video Tim..... I was up at the New Hyde Park printing facility we used to have back in 2008' when that plant closed down. I was up there 2 times, the second for a week..... Tonight I was looking to see what might be on you-tube pertaining to that facility and I came across your video and what a treat it is! Our 2 Primary customers.....C@ke and P3Psi...we make the labels that go on the bottles asked the Hi Brass at Alcan how would you get us are labels if a hurricane Katrina were to hit long Island and take out the one or both of the plants? And that is how the Fate of the Of the new hyde park and The akron plant was decided by a hurricane on the gulf coast! Isn't that something my man? Obviously the crossing is now gone (road is closed so construction can commence). From now through Spring and early Summer they will be excavating in the same fashion as Urban and Covert, which were eliminated last year. With signals ripped out, corrugated steel will be spiked on both sides of the tracks to excavate. They have slated a July 11th-12th weekend outage to install the new bridge that the trains will traverse with cars going underneath. The bridge will be built on-site and pushed into place via box-jacking, a new innovative construction method to move new spans. Thanks to the swift methods, the road will reopen in either late-July or August from a 4-lane grade crossing into a 5-lane separated road. School Street the same thing, finished and reopened by the end of this year. This Summer will see action at Mineola, but elimination of both Willis Avenue crossings isn't slated to start until next year.

The one train that the lights were going off and on in 3rd rail gaps reminds me of CTA's older L cars in street grade crossings: The 4000 SERIES L cars with 2 emergency battery lights in the ceilings of each car ( bare bulbs) and the 6000 SERIES L cars with an emergency battery light above the inside doors of each car.

Bridge box-jacked into place on the weekend of July 11th-12th, 2020. The road was officially reopened to traffic on August 24th, 2020. Now School Street will be box-jacked into place on the weekend of October 3rd-4th, and be reopened probably around Thanksgiving.

I have been stuck in the grand nursing for the last 20 months or so I folllow the lirr third track construction on this I pad I was hopping to each year at my birthday go out and see as me and her go places to see new old on this besides $$$$$$$$$$$$costs I love Long Island and plenty to do miss some things that are no more but come and go so far besides I pad photos I have been told no third track has not been put up yet I have seen many changes on Long Island no more old country fairs in minneola village on Broadway in Massapequa where was the Burban barrel like an old fashioned salon Nathan’s in Oceanside Wednesdays had a comedy Dixieland band there was more I fished plenty more in saltwater some fresh very long bicycle rides nassau county but sometimes to Suffolk county north or south shore many hours at Jones beach square dances bar b ques under the boardwalk camping family by montauk heather hills volunteer fire dept parades and parties street fairs with car shows auto clubs I am vw club nice ristorantes some no more or where ice cream parlors luncheonettes shows concerts in parks day time or early evenings he died name I can not say but he did slide shows on Long Island queens nassau Suffolk at libraries we have now our jerk in the White House causing some of the highest prices on gasoline and things our southeran border is a real mess from joe Biden who blames who not him will he go there I hear no ny state government as well as else where in the USA is corrupt just look at the police all over drug addicts crime is getting out of control some areas are no more police at all I can not see how USA is as is said such a great country with prices going so high how could anyone afford to live here I hear over eight dollars preminium gasoline per gallon in California growing up in New York State lower prices not over fifty cents for gasoline we worked less hours enjoyed life more rode our bikes all over I walked long hours miles enough now I wonder what will be in the next how many years s 13gangs killings drunk drivers it is only getting worse our lies the am flag pledge justice for all or businesses going to hell or when who will do the jobs when being paid more not to work I was a two year us army draftee one was in viet nam no I donot have suicidal thoughts or try’s no ptsd agent orange I am in a nursing home in queens New York City not always getting proper health care some yes not allowed out of building in 20 months have a very nice senorita cougar amigo who cares 32 years not allowed visitors presently the va health care only does so much for me I am a bit handicapped lost my monthly disability on Medicaid here they va fifty $$spending I’d love to get back to the outside world but even tho I never was married she cares for me respects everyone no matter who your are where born status in life or more as it should be I am the same way we two live or do the simple life dating and all we are all gods creations why all this stupidity nonsense over skin color tall short jobs oh he is just a bus driver or low paying work more important is using what one has wisely your money all jobs matter I donot care if you look theworst best it depends who one is more important is what you are our personalities how we treat or respect each other my words are not always best but just because a person is abit different than most others does not make them wrong or weird or we all are not following society’s approval thank you
