Some of these trains are haulin' some serious butt!! Wow!! How fast do they usually go?... and many have long, 10 or more cars in the consist. The LIRR is a commuter work horse!

I know its 5 years late but lirr trains are limited to 80mph speeds. The speeds here seem to range from 60-80 mph for sure.

So happy that the LIRR mainline has three tracks now. It definitely reduces congestion on the mainline. I live close to the Far Rockaway branch and I also use Lynbrook sometimes too because there’s more service so I never use the mainline to get to the city but now that there’s three tracks, the LIRR is much more resilient.

Can someone please tell me about the diesel 4 car double decker? I have seen it many times in person but never learned where it comes from. Only that it ends its trip in Jamaica due to no diesel allowed at underground terminals.
@Generalvids-aviation11 ай бұрын
The 4 car diesel is a train that goes from oyster bay to Jamaica. The locomotive is a DE30AC with Kawasaki C3 cars.

Waiting at the gate is safer, to many trains are passing during rush hour. When traffic is on the other side of the tracks wait until it clears then proceed if the gate is up, don't stop on the tracks or get caught on the tracks because ther trsins come at a speed especially express trains.

The gates were defective. That's why someone decided to do that. Rule #290 is in effect where Restricted Speed is used at any gates that are broken or stuck down. People were becoming impatient while workers and MTA police were trying to figure out the problem
