Apparently there is something floating around about a magnet in the headband for added security. However there is no magnet. And no need in my opinion. Further I’m not sure I want to strap a magnet to my forehead. Doc out. kzbin.infoVh_zIF46UQ8?feature=share

I found your video expressly to figure out if I should be using the tighter rubber strap setting as it didn't seem right but the hole setting was loose! Thank you for explaining this for me!

I've done lots of backpacking/climbing and gone through a lot of headlamps. This is the best one I've used. It's also good for automotive work. I'm about to buy a second one. Hint: I store mine with the rubber band at the longest position so I'm not wearing out the rubber stretch. I also bought two of Olight's PL-Pro Valkyrie weapon lights. Those are a self-defense tool by themselves with their 1500 lumen strobe. Anyone can blind/disorient an attacker for several seconds with that thing! It might even work on bears, but I don't want to test that theory, thank you very much. Olight makes great stuff.

It also has 2 timer modes, 3min and 9min SOS mode And if you long press power (from off) it goes into a mode where it's only on if you're pressing the button.

I like it very much. I wish they will sell the headband separately soon and upgrade the regular Perun. The red light could be a little more dim but there is always something to complain about. Sadly it seems the changed the magnetic charger. Now its just black not the signature blue that Olight had.

Just got the perun2mini! I got the perun 2 thinking it was a double battery version of my H1N but it is way bigger! I saw the P2mini and figured I really wanted the red light for camping so ordered one on sale. Very happy with it!!

Great review, thanks for showing the headbanc mechanism and that you can leave the belt clip on. I have the H1R and love it. The Perun Mini looked like a downgrade to the H1R, whereas the Perun 2 Mini looks like an upgrade. Can keep the belt clip on, has a red light mode, has a battery level indicator, and a pocket lock mode.

Will the pocket clip twist around it a bit? The thing I don’t like on the first one is the pocket clip is fixed, when I clip it to my hat I don’t like it pointing straight down. I was thinking if the pocket clip twists a little I can turn it 90 degrees and clip It to the side of the bill on my hat

honesty like the predecessor better. i like the way the older light attaches to the strap better and the button on the older flashlight is easier to actuate. even the red is fiddly to actuate. hope i get used to it but the older model is better for me

It's really beyond me why would anyone choose non-Hi-CRI option for the headlight, that is primarily meant for close-up work, when the true reproduction of colors is desirable. How does the Olight crowd think about looking at options outside the Brand? I use and can recommend Sofirn HS10 (Samsung 4000K/5000K) in 16340 format; use it for night walks in the woods (~1.5 hours). The Fresnel-type TIR has a soft punch that is very welcome outdoors. The downside it is unregulated, so it gets a bit dimmer towards the end. USB-C charging, stepless brightness adjustment available. Another option is Skilhunt H04RS Mini ( Nichia 519A 4500K / Samsung 4000K) in 18350. Magnetic charging, great headband. All modes are regulated here. The beam pattern is very disperse, comfortable for close-up work or doing stuff in the yard, / outside the house. Both of these have real Moonlight mode - 1 lumen or lower. 2 lumens is no Moonlight mode. Small changes at the bottom of lumen scale are actually perceived as big, and vice versa; the function is logarithmic. No red light in these alternatives. It is a big deal for some, I understand.

Lithium non interchangeable but Olight offers 1yr replacement warranty on batteries.
@matthewhebbert9712 Жыл бұрын
This is why I never bought this light. It's a lithium battery that you can't change, and it uses a proprietary magnetic charger that connects to the magnetic end cap. I don't need yet another charger to carry around that doesn't work on anything else, and if I lose it or it breaks, I'm screwed.
@skywardsoul1178 Жыл бұрын
@@matthewhebbert9712I'm pretty sure it is replaceable considering you can buy spare batteries for quite cheap.

Good review, thx. Question Can you please check if it can be used from an external battery via cable? That would give extended autonomy If yes, are all the modes Lo, Med and Hi available? or only Low? Thank you

@@lastbesttool maybe I am wrong but I swear to God when I was watching a live stream sean was showing it in the video. I don't have my light yet so I can't test myself and I only asked a couple of people but it looked like on the red mode he just held down and it changed. It could also be possible that he was showing a different light along side it but idk

In today's world of info overload I would be fumbling forever trying to get the mode I want! The only problem I have with this is that it needs a cable to charge. With a USB-C port it would already be in my basket.

JUST 1 SETTING. I want on & off, no heinz 57 flavors of annoying clicks before my light is on/off. Give me 250 lumens in a penlight that will last 5 hours with a tail cap switch and is light enough for me to hold in my mouth. Usb-c rechargeable and made in USA a major bonus.

Thumbs down for shilling. No one uses the red light. Also no smooth ramp up and down which is a failure for a light at this price. I went from having to charge my flashlight at least weekly when I had one with modes like this to once every three weeks for one where I can ramp the brightness up and down.
