Thank you!!!! You answered the ONE huge question I had- how do you slide extra backer nuts into the slots- Prinsu gives no information on this on their site. It doesn’t even mention the wider openings at the ends of each bar. I had a Cali Raised bed rack on my Tacoma and ran into this problem- they said I had to plan ahead and put a bunch of the nuts in the slots before closing it up, thus having the un used ones sliding around. They eventually got me a fix, which was to use press in nut which has a small spring loaded ball bearing, you compress it and press it in, without having to slide them in from the ends. Rhino Rack uses the same in genius design of a wider opening at the bar ends. Simple yet effective

Thanks for sharing your review and tips on using the Prinsu rack, Mike! Great job on the video. I'm still debating whether to get a Prinsu or a Front Runner roof rack. I do like how the Prinsu is very low profile; it can help to clear the garage gate where we live. However, getting a FRO roof rack to match the FRO bed rack setup I have on the Diamondback cover can allow for easier transfer of items back and forth between them.

Definitely recommend the sound strip for the front! You really don't ned to try to make it fit the conture of the entire thing, just where it sits close to the roof. Without it, the wind noise was deffening!!! With it in place, it was the same as no rack at all.
@thenerdhermit86745 жыл бұрын
Totally agree....I had the same rack on my taco and until I got the cross slats dialed in and the sound strip in my God was the wind noise unbearable.
@JoshRizer5 жыл бұрын
The one person who watched this and thumb- down’d it can go kick rocks. Also, did you drill straight through the weatherstripping and if so what kind of bit did you have on your drill. I wish Prinsu would offer aftermarket weatherstripping pre-drilled to fit perfectly which doesn’t seem like an outrageous request
@LastLineOfDefense5 жыл бұрын
I used a spade bit and clamped each side tight. Wasn't super easy, because it has metal reinforcements in it, but not too bad either.
@jeffsviper155 жыл бұрын
Did you just choose a spade bit large enough to allow a slip fit for the little machined spacers the screws slide through? Any silicone used to seal around the holes?

The Prinsu crap does it again, not only does it almost scratch the roof paint while mounted, it also inhibits full use of the sunroof AND blocks the light bar. Maybe that last one is good for other road users though :)
@LastLineOfDefense2 жыл бұрын
Lol wat. Didn't scratch roof, allows full use of sunroof if you'd like, and you can mount the lightbar however you want - I just mounted it in the most functional way. You're 0/3 my man.

When you do the lighting video if you can show the output from those square pojectors. But if they aren't awful I may reconsider.

I am looking for where to get the external loops, I think you called them rope tie downs with threads bolts that replace the screws that hold the the cross members of the rack. I went to the Amazon page, but did not see them there. Hoping they will fit the Cali raised off road roof rack I am installing, looks similar to yours, but has lighting cutouts for the side and back. Slightly taller than yours
