Hey Mike! Love the new Tacoma set up! You very much had an influential hand in me building out my Tacoma (We did the Diamondback shoot up at Argentine Pass with some others a few years back for the Tremor raffle) I always liked how you keep things sleek, and streamlined. Currently running a Diamondback with the frontrunner bars & Sky Camp Mini. Though Id love to be able to add a 180 awning, for those bad weather days. How would you go about doing so, without it being too bulky and obnoxious?

I loved the golf r video. I wanted to do a rally build when I had mine with a rtt, but I was afraid on the limitations of crossbars being a 6’2 225lb guy, plus the weight of a tent, etc. I have an atlas cross sport atm and I’m building this as more of an off roadish build vs lowering it like I’ve done on all my other builds 😅, however there are so little off-road companies for VW outside of b2b and forge that really put out products for multiple models. Keep up the good work Mike. I always love watching your videos, long time sub. 🤘🏽

How does a Tacoma Drive.? I like the idea but I've heard the engine is to be desired as for any power. That it's mostly an off road truck. Having most the advantages of a truck but agility to get around easier than a full size, is appealing. Thanks for the info

Hey great video awesome depth. I know you used to have a prinsu roof rack on the Toco wondering how you like the Uptop vs the Prinsu and if its worth saving or worth spending
@LastLineOfDefense10 ай бұрын
The Kilo does everything I'd need from a rack, and I love the aesthetics and the price is right. Honestly if you already have the Prinsu and aren't having any issues with it, you wouldn't gain much functionality with the Kilo though. Hey Mike- love the setup- quick question- I am planning on buying a DB cover but want to make sure I can access full use of the bed by removing the cover in a way that only takes one person- does the weight of this rack system make it too heavy to take the panels off with it mounted, or would it still work to remove it that way? How easy is it to install/remove/reinstall this rack system?
@LastLineOfDefense7 ай бұрын
With the low crossbars it is very easy to remove the panels and whole system - no harder than just a bare diamondback. With the mid-height bars it definitely takes a little more work to remove the panels individually (you could remove the entire cover with racks attached - but that'd need a hoist or second person).
@PaulHuchton-vx6ou7 ай бұрын
Thank you sir- I appreciate it! Love the videos, always worth watching..

Couple questions on the Truss Bed Rack. I'm very interested in the medium height version for my Diamondback Cover (forJeep Gladiator). Does the rack system come with the attachment/load panels for the sides, or do you purchase those separately? Secondly, I read in the instructions on the website that the load panels with the DB cover are not compatible with MaxTrax mounting. Yet you mention that you can. Can you clarify?

Neither are bad options - specs / functionality on them will be pretty similar. I'd have to check, the Kilo might be a tad wider and lower, but not by a ton. I prefer the aesthetics of the Kilo (cutouts, angle, and bevel on the side plate) and the strength of its mounting feet - the Prinsu will have slightly more mounting options on the crossbars, but you probably wouldn't use the side channels for anything (I never have).

@LastLineOfDefense10 ай бұрын
A little bit of apples to oranges - iKamper’s Skycamp is a very good tent, different in almost every way / solves a different problem than a wedge tent. Freespirit’s Aspen is more akin to the iKamper BDV, and I much, much prefer the Aspen of those two. The brands in general are both top tier, and innovative, and you can’t go wrong with either. I think because of the mattress design (I showed a bit in this video), the Freespirit tents are definitely the more comfortable of the two, the insulation built into every tent is nice as well, and I like the aesthetics better.
