Class A fires are my favorite fires because they can be put out with water.

Back when I was a kid I wanted my own soda acid or stored pressure water "can" extinguisher. These days I have a dry chemical type in the kitchen, a 2.5 gal water in the rear den and I am going to get an extra water type for the upstairs bedroom areas. It never hurts to play it safe and be ready as fire can break out when least expected.

They need a warning on fire extinguishers with Ansul Foray. Ansul Foray has caused more damage than a fire in my home. All our pets, Fleur, our standard poodle, Hans, our Borzoi, and Pearl, our cat have died after exposures to Ansul Foray. My daughter and I have been ill with repeated cases of bronchitis, nerve pain, eye irritation, and more until we have abandoned our home. I have heard of one lady who died after Ansul Foray was put down her chimney and destroyed three rooms in her home. Another family suffered damages from Ansul Foray put down their chimney and the husband has been diagnosed with ALS nerve disease that was not genetic in origin and his doctors feel may be related to Ansul Foray exposures. Other than the deaths of our pets and our illness which has compounded the suffering from our disabilities, every surface of our home was covered in this fine gold dust, Ansul Forey. All soft goods are permeated with Ansul Foray so that sitting on furniture or using blankets or moving curtains sets it free to be inhaled and irritate eyes again. We have been told our home will have to be totally rebuilt and all soft goods destroyed. Because Ansul Foray is corrosive all manner of electronics have been damaged or destroyed. Electrical switches no longer work, at least 18 appliances from our sauna, to computers, dishwashers, hot water heaters, air handling equipment, even the metal framing on our home has corroded and rusted due to Ansul Foray corrosion. Yes it is time for a dry chemical fire suppressant alternative as there is no help to be expected from expensive homeowners insurance, who are not on our side, and certainly not from the manufacturer, Tyco, who simply makes a new product and new profits and denies all responsibility. I have discovered that in most dry fire extinguishers that use mono ammonium phosphate, such as Ansul Foray, the mono ammonium phosphate is commonly ground to a nano size. Nano sized materials are not required to be disclosed on labels or Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) through a loop hole for what are termed "Natural Materials". Nano sized materials have been shown to pass through the blood brain barrier, into cells and every organ in the body. Another potentially dangerous and undisclosed feature of Ansul Foray is that it is radioactive in that 80% of the product is mono ammonium phosphate which is recognized as a "technologically enhanced radioactive material". However radiation again is not disclosed on labels or MSDS as it is considered a "Natural Material". Another dangerous aspect of Ansul Foray is that its very fine nano sized dust will adhere to even very low levels (below recommended remediation levels) of radon gas and collect on filters and presumably lungs in high levels. For instance in our home testing showed below action levels of radon gas. Background levels of radiation taken with an Inspector USB geiger counter were 50 counts per minute (cpm), an auto alarm went off at 100cpm, tests of air filters went as high as 3700cpm. Reducing levels of Ansul Foray also reduced the radiation levels. If you have experienced health or property damage from Ansul Foray after it was introduced during a chimney fire or other fire please get in touch. pace@mcdowell.main.nc.us

ABC Powders in general due to their small particle size, acidic pH and the fact they melt and fuse when hot are known to have a severe property damage risk and also a potential human hazard indoors from obscuration of vision & respiratory discomfort - in the UK Powder extinguishers are no longer advised for indoor use in our equivalent of the NFPA codes

contactacb All the information that I can find is based upon one time short term exposures. There is no information or testing on toxicity. My daughter and I have been left in this toxic environment since Dec, 2014. Long term irritation is bad. I would be most grateful for any information about how we can test our home for this continued contamination which our Homeowner's Ins. denies. Also any medical experts that can assist us with our medical problems would be very helpful. The main ingredient, mono ammonium phosphate, is proprietary and I suspect is nanotized which makes it very difficult to test or identify. I would like any information on Ansul Foray that has been published in England or other countries where this product has been banned. I am particularly interested in how to identify the corrosion that seems to have damaged our electical outlets, appliances, air conditioning duct work and air handler. Thanks for your comments and any additional information you may share.

+Elizabeth O'Nan Dry chemical is extremely corrosive, therefore it destroys items. And this is an MSDS for Ansul Foray: interstatefire.com/PDF/MSDS/Fire_Extinguishers/ANSUL_FORAY.pdf

what type of fire can a soda acid extinguisher put out?.
@contactacb
@contactacb 4 жыл бұрын
Essentially it's a water extinguisher, the chemicals purpose being to expel the water as oppose to a specific fire fighting effect, so Class A Fire - those involving combustible solids such as wood, paper, textiles etc. It would be ineffective on Class B fires involving flammable liquids & outright dangerous if used on Class F fires involving cooking oils or fires involving live electrical equipment

Sulphuric acid in the little glass bottle, mixed with sodium bicarb in water (the large cylinder) made CO2 gas, expelling the soda water.
