Something Liberty media and F1 in the 2000's fail to grasp. Its the freedom of development, not homogenised rules which will grow the sport.

Just watched FP1 and 2 for the Race on Sunday. These cars are tiny by comparison! Adrian Newey's Lotus is beautiful and the Matra V12 sounds fabulous. I saw this live but it bears watching more than once, thank you GR&R. 🤘

Totally agree! These cars can still go side-by-side, making for much closer racing and plentiful overtaking 😊.

The title ist wrong. These are not Cars of the late 60s but from the early 70s. The Brooke Bond Surtees startet in season 71, the March ans Matra in 1970...

Come on Goodwood channel, the 3.0 litre formula may have begun in 1966, but 90%+, perhaps 100% of the cars racing here are from the early 1970s

There is a sanctioning body and a rule book running these races, and the official classification for this group of cars is '3.0 Liter F1 Cars, 1966-1972'. The commentators didn't make that up, they were simply reporting the information to you.

Delighted to hear that the Surtees is the ex-Gunston car. I saw it race many, many times in the hands of John Love (and later Eddie Keizan, if I remember correctly) and often wondered what happened to it. Who would have imagined that one day it would race at Monaco again?
