@@deta1895 Thanks so much! To be honest, it's not been the absolute worst so far. A couple of close calls running out of "luxury" stuff that we take for granted, but managed to get them. I've lucky, my wife is all over her phone and leaps on the groups buys when she can. We're also lucky that we get on very well. So we have food aplenty, first world comforts (coffee beans, milk, drinking water) and we're both doing more cooking than the rest of the year combined! Also in a really good community in our compound, everyone helping out (even me as a foreigner) and looking out for each other. But I'm aware there's a range of experiences: some people are lucky, some less so.

There’s a ton of things you can make with noodles and simple ingredients, for instance if you do get your hands on ramen, onion and something akin to what in US we call Summer Sausage it makes a really good meal especially with. A chili flavor packet (not sure if those are avaiable in Shanghai either 😔 point is… there’s soooo many options when it comes to normal ingredients, I wish you the best of luck and happy eating!!!
@nobytes22 жыл бұрын
I worked in a shipyard in 2014 or so about a few hours away from Shanghai and stayed in a hotel Shanghai. I ate nearly 20 some days in the hotel and one day my coworkers were like c'mon you're going to love this noodles. There was a really nice old lady in some back street cooking with charcoal some of the best noodles I've had in my life. She also had chicken and bread cooked in sticks over the charcoal. Then washed down with Tsingtao beer.

One thing I miss about Europe is how amazing the eggs look and taste.
@daviddefranco52182 жыл бұрын
They are Middle Eastern eggs! She isn't European nor she is in Europe when they filmed this...just because of the subtitles you came to that conclusion... You must think you are American...right!? You are not you are a European born in America. Americans are dark skinned with dark hair. That's the Truth!
@181cameron Жыл бұрын
@@daviddefranco5218 Actually, Canadian, and my parents were born in India. Interestingly enough, I lived in the Middle East, as well (Lebanon, Syria, the UAE, and Oman). I remember the freshest, and tastiest food I had was in both Lebanon and Palestine, the latter being where I finally tasted what olive oil should taste like...with apologies to my old Italian friends, of course. But, thank you for your feedback, David. You are correct that, reading the subtitles I assumed this was filmed in Europe. I think it's quite rational for one to make that assumption. Just like it is completely rational for someone to assume that a mistake about egg colour and countries must have been made by an American! Have an amazing day.

The egg quality is a result of how the chicken is being raised. My chickens lay eggs with an orange to red yolk depending on the season. I have maybe 8 different breeds of chicken. Yolks all the same. If you want better eggs find a farmer raising high quality eggs. The store doesn’t sell eggs like I have.
