Late Rut, High Pressure Buck

Deer movement had been slow for a few weeks, we had constantly changing weather and dogs running loose. Hunting had been difficult hours sitting on the stand. November 29, 2023 we had high pressure with a heavy rain front moving in. Weather was changing fast and the deer got on their feet…..I happened to choose correctly where I thought the movement would be

I’m kinda kicking myself. Talking to the camera and not waiting might have cost me a deer. People a little upset that I just cut its antlers off and didn’t do any kind of mount lol. Them dang dogs! I’ve seen like 5 or 6 different dogs this year

I wasn’t as strapped for meat this year, so I’ve been pretty selective. First legal buck I’ve seen on that particular property and he just happened to be a pretty good one

I remember my dad telling me back in the sixties him and all his brothers and uncles used to go out in the summer and hunt these wild dogs , cause there were so many of them and they would run and chase deer to death !! I love that Bunn! The deer are used to dogs but they still ruin the hunt that day. It’s frustrating because they bump them or run them somewhere else while you’re trying to get one. I appreciate it a lot

Good Buck!! Man, I find it extremely hard to self film my deer hunts where I hunt as well. Most places in Arkansas this late in season your window of opportunity closes quick if you don’t take the shot when you can. You have to make the choice of a good ethical shot and not getting camera on it or waiting till you can and letting the window pass you by. Most of the time backstraps win the argument in my head, lol.

I was hunting down South early and up here late. I needed to be doing the opposite. I’m no KZbinr really, just a guy filming what he can but I’m not letting anything walk because I can’t get footage lol. This is real life and we play for keeps
