Wow! Being 52 yo...those were the days....what a voice Keifer had... Man you are so prolific... How about a great beginner lesson of slide guitar featuring the bad boy himself...George Thorogood and the Destroyers ? Greetings from Québec !

OK. Here's the deal.....Tom Keifer's voice is and was amazing. First time I heard him I was floored! Instantly recognizable. Then Long Cold Winter came out! Holy hit factory Batman!! That album was amazing!!I played it all the time. I have never seen them live.. I hope Tom Keifer comes down south so I can see him play. LOVE CINDERELLA!!!

Man I had no idea that original version of 'Shake Me' even existed. Cinderella was the first concert I went to, opening for Bon Jovi in Toronto. I'll never forget seeing Tom Keifer catch that guitar thrown by his tech from the side of the stage to the middle of the stage and hit the opening chords of 'Once Around the Ride' without missing a beat. That blew my mind as a kid! - :)

I used to go see these guys play at The Empire Rock Room in the mid 80's. Probably saw them a dozen times. They're phenomenal live. Jeff Lebar was already in the group, but Fred Coury wasn't in the band until they got signed. They had several drummers before him. One went to play with Britney Fox, but was sadly killed in a car accident. The other, their best imo, is a lawyer and plays in a jazz band. Loved that time of my life.

Great lesson David.. This brings back memories even prior to when Cinderella hit the scene. If my 55 year old memory serves, drummer Fred Coury grew up in my home town of Johnson City, NY. I remember back around the 82-83 time frame seeing him play in a local bar in Johnson City, although I never knew him personally. Small world.

Definitely this. Most Slave To The Grind songs have interesting chords/riffs like The Threat (Drop D), Slave To The Grind, Monkey Business, Mudkicker. You can add a couple of acoustics demonstrations like Quicksand Jesus and Wasted Time intros/verses. Finally throw something from the first album (18 and Life probably) but the album was rather weak in interesting chords/riffs. From Subhuman Race, well, probably My Enemy.

Cinderella is another band who just has fun songs to play. I absolute LOVED Night Songs .. after I got around to it. As I begin to embark watching this episode, I will say that I had just watched the Motley Crue ChordPlay episode again and noted at one point you mentioned Saxon. Saxon, I'd think would be a great ChordPlay episode, and also even a 3Licks one as well perhaps. But, their understated work is worthy of attention.

Cinderella will always be one of my favorite bands from that time. There's more songs to do so I vote that you put another Cinderella chordplay together. Would love to see Gypsy Road, The Last Mile, Second Wind. Loved this episode! I was fortunate to see them on the Long Cold Winter Tour with Winger and Bullet Boys opening up for them. Saw them again in the late 90s at a festival in Charlotte and they did an acoustic set. I agree with you, the first two albums were definitely the best of their work. Night Songs was darker and just completely different than Long Cold Winter. I cant really choose a favorite between them. Did you happen to see them at The Moscow Peace Festival? I still have that concert on VHS.
@kevmet844 жыл бұрын
Been meaning to watch this one for a while and would've sooner had I not forgot to add to my watch later list. Nonetheless, now that I've watched it, I say to myself why hadn't I watched it sooner watch list or not? Good one. And Cinderella is one of my favorite hard rock bands of the eighties era to say the least. And, I like the lil' rant about the 'flying guitars' which was something I've seen Keifer do in at least one of the two times I got to see them live.😎🤘
@woodchuk14 жыл бұрын
While these guys may have had the look of hair metal, they were more sophisticated musically than most others of the genre. Taking their whole discography into account, especially from Long Cold Winter onwards, I honestly think they had more in common with AC/DC, The Rolling Stones or Aerosmith than with Poison or Motley Crue. Not that there’s anything wrong with Poison or Motley Crue, I just think these guys kinda got pigeonholed simply because they had the look of hair metal. Tom Keifer has that ‘Brian Johnson meets Janis Joplin” vibe that I really dig, and he’s no slouch as a player. His solo on Don’t Know What You’ve Got ‘Til It’s Gone has been a favorite of mine ever since I was 8 or 9 years old, and I sill love it at 40. Great band!

I remember when Cinderella 1st came out. I wasn’t a big fan in the beginning but bought the album (Night Moves) to learn the songs (guitar) because they were getting really popular fast w/the help of MTV & their videos! I really learned to appreciate Tom Keifer’s song writing after a while! We always thought Cinderella was like a mash-up of AC/DC & Aerosmith!😉

Saw them open for Bon Jovi, but the best for me was the Long Cold Winter tour. Great tour. I figured out the whole album. He does launch them, and did so live!!! I wondered the same. nice commentary saying "Night Songs" was kinda like a dark AC/DC in terms of riffs. The heavy straight-up power chords and the single note riffage combo to rock it.
