Nicole McFuckins being Jewish isnt just a religion it’s something that is genetically as identifiable as being German or Irish. It’s a culture with its own language, Yiddish, songs literature and art. It’s why we call it a tribe, specifically ashkenazi, which is what my fathers genetic test said he was 99.5 percent. Seth is just uninformed, and no matter what he thinks saying he isn’t Jewish won’t stop them from trying to throw him in an oven with the rest of us.

But far more importantly, Judaism is an ethnoreligion, so yes, you and I may be Ashkenazi, but not all Jews are - saying we are a single tribe erases mihzrahi and Sephardi Jews. Ashkenormativity is harmful to converts, Jews of colour, and people who may have been raised outside of their ethnic context. Yes, Yiddish is an important part of Ashkenazi culture, but as Ashkenazim we can’t pretend that all Jews speak Yiddish or erase the existence of languages such as Ladino.
