David Letterman is my generations Johnny Carson. His timing and delivery is impeccable. He’s still got it and outshines Kimmel, Fallon, and the rest. He could return to late night and in two week shut the others guys down. Truly a master at his craft.

These two, Dave and Seth, are two of the reasons I still love watching late night TV (or KZbin, since I work when these shows air). David has always been one of the quickest wits when interacting with anyone, and Seth is right there in the same league. I love you both, and hope to see more guest shots with Dave without any other reason than he's an amazingly funny guest with an enormous number of stories/history to share!!! 🧡

Actually, a bad idea. Years ago, when Carson was starting the idea of guest hosts for his version of The Tonight Show, Steve Allen was a guest host...for only one time. I believe he actually thought the TS was his again. He was so rude and sh1tty to the TS crew, he lambasted them in front of the live audience when the crew was trying to get him situated on stage with a grand piano he planned to play. The audience got very, VERY quiet. He was never invited back.

@@pamelacass9642 False. You'll want to look that one up. Steve Allen guest-hosted for Johnny many times in the early 1970s - I watched the shows. Why would Letterman want to guest host when he can get bundles of cash from Netflix - way more than NBC would be willing to pay - to host A-list guests on his own terms and schedule. Guest hosts are apparently not a thing any more on talk shows - I'm surprised nightly talk shows are still a thing at all. They've devolved into making anti-GOP jokes and hosting near-anonymous subpar guests for steadily shrinking audiences. Maybe I'm just too old for it all. So is Letterman.

Dave is a legend. I watched him since the beginning and he was so off the wall. I loved the stupid pet tricks, Top 10 lists, throwing things off the building - you name it. He is insanely brilliant so he could interview and have intellectual discussions with some guests but could interview anyone and make them interesting. His humor is sardonic, self deprecating at times or just silly. I cried so much during his last couple weeks as did many of the beloved guests he wanted on his show during that time.

@ghost mall as I stated above, for me he is now relatable, warm, and generous. That wasn’t who he used to be. Being a parent has done him a lot of good. David Letterman here is charming and oh so funny. Back in the day, the show where he interviewed Lindsay Lohan was the last time I watched his show.
