I think a lot of this can be attributed to our perspective, too. We were kids (or not born yet) when Golden Girls came out, so we saw them as old ladies, as they all looked like our grandmas or great grandmas at the time. If you look at younger Betty White, say from the Mary Tyler Moore show, she doesn't look much different from how she looks in Golden Girls. She has the same hairstyle even. We naturally see Betty White as an old lady no matter the era. We grew up with Demi Moore, so we remember when she was hot in Ghost and G.I. Jane, and we still see that in her face. I guarantee a 12-year-old today would see Demi as an old lady.

Because... Well, it's complicated. Not being nominated for an Oscar doesn't mean by all means that one is a bad actor or not deserving to be. During the 'peak' years of her career, she rarely took part to Oscar friendly films, with the exception of Ghost and A Few Good Men. In the first case, it was a super competitive year and while the film is iconic, the performance that stands out is Whoopi's (who won). In the other, it is simply not a particularly interesting role, while she was good. I hope her un-nominated for Oscar status changes this year, hopefully the Academy embraces her performance while abandoning genre bias (sometimes, it happens).

What is a non-literal homeless person? Are you saying only the homeless use synthetic marijuana? Are you implying that certain drugs are only okay for certain people? Are you capable of providing a rational response or will you just whine that I'm being mean?

I watch a ton of horror movies, gory films, even own a few banned/extreme movies like Serbian Film or Salo 120 Days of Sodom... the Substance might be now my favorite horror movie of all time 😮 the scariest horror movie 😢 and a top 10 favorite movie of all time ❤ Congratulations 💚 to everyone in this movie!

Cool story... I personally think that role where she played the Synthetic Marijuana and Whippet junkie who ruined their career by never taking accountability for it and ran into hiding until people stopped gossiping. That was possibly her magnum opus IMO. Can't remember it name but it also had that Bruce Willis guy in it. He played the father of her kids

So great, so much références : Shining, Carrie, The fly, Body double, Freaks, Alien, King kong, The thing, Psycho, Frankenstein, Phantom of the paradise, All about Eve, Doctor Jekyll and mister Hyde, Elephant man, Dorian Gray and even Titane from Julia Ducournau ! The fans of Carpenter, Cronenberg and Argento will be thrilled ! All Hollywood filmed on the Riviera, Coralie Fargeat is brilliant ! Moore and Qualley are perfect (and brave !)

Every now and then a film comes along which is refreshingly unque. A huge swing was taken with this movie and they've knocked it out of the park. Brilliantly written, directed and the acting is superb. Have never seen Demi Moore allow herself to be so exposed and vulnerable. She is still amazing.

Can we also point out this is one of the best "Psycho biddy" OR body horror films in decades... The touches of Kubrick, Cronenberg, and even vintage Joan Crawford in her Baby Jane/Straight Jacket era are all on display and rightly so!

Demi nailed it: “we as women have given into” this image men have of us by injecting ourselves, inserting butt and breast implants into our bodies. We can’t blame men alone for the path we took. I applaud women who reject trying to live up to the ideals of some twisted men. I applaud Demi’s acting and bravery in this role and I hope she stops surgically modifying her face.
