I have a friend who is a high school teacher. She had assigned a pretty big project to her students that would take several weeks to complete. The project came do and the students turned in their projects on a Friday and took them home to grade over the weekend. She woke up Saturday morning to find it had snowed in her living room and the reports were gone. She had to go into school on Monday and tell her students, "My dog ate your homework."

Completely different but your story reminded me of teachers messing up. My maths teachers lost my mock exam, so insisted I take it again over a lunchtime. I was not happy with them. A week later they found it and gave me the choice of which exam to put through but they wouldn't tell me the result of either. I protested as it wasn't my fault and we settled on an average of the two. Thankfully there was only a 2% difference.

@@Elwaves2925 for another unrelated story that your story reminded me: I once had a German teacher (i live and grew up in the German speaking part of Switzerland) that lost our exams because she fell asleep on the train to the school and then the bag with the exams got stolen (As she was sometimes really unorganised, we students speculated, that the bag wasn't stolen but she forgot where she had put it in the train)

a long time ago I used a bit of software (shareware) that was mostly free to use but if you'd send the creators an image (postcard, toy, drawing,..) of a hamster (and a self-addressed envelope) they would enable if fully. I've sent them a picture of my hamster in it's cage and got a licence to use the software in return.

My guess was that there is a puzzle out there with some instructions that you can only read once you solved the puzzle and the instruction was to send a photo of your pet to a certain address (which happened to be the address of the company) or something like that.

The second he brought up having eaters on the wall, I realized it was about eating the puzzle piece. Because I knew the same thing Tom knew about them sending you the one piece you were missing. But I would have thought you'd also need a photo of the puzzle without the piece.
@blindleader424 ай бұрын
"But I would have thought you'd also need a photo of the puzzle without the piece." That's implicit in the offer. How else can you accurately communicate exactly which piece you need? Actually, I can think of a couple of text based ways to do it, but in these days of digital photography, using them would be silly.

"All Dogs' Tessellation" is Matt Parker's new sequel to "All Dogs Go To Heaven". I kind of want to make jigsaw puzzles infused with catnip, but don't label that on the box. Anyone who owns a cat is punished for their lesser choice in pet 😁

Shame none of them have heard of Liberty Puzzles! They're some of the best designed puzzles I've done, top notch craftsmanship for anyone who enjoys a good jigsaw puzzle.
@dgthe34 ай бұрын
But are their piece counts accurate? I have it on good authority that some puzzle companies cheat you out of several pieces. Others are less bad & give a few more than what they say on the box. But they are still lying none the less. Piece count honesty should be the primary means by which a puzzle company is judged.
@Savaniel4 ай бұрын
@@dgthe3 They actually are! Not a round number in sight for their piece counts. I promised quality, no?! In fact, there wouldn't even be a good way to estimate their piece counts because they use a grid design or square-ish pieces. Instead, they use irregular pieces with shapes based on the theme of the puzzle. (For example, an ocean puzzle will have a handful of pieces shaped like fish, seahorses, etc.) They're beautiful wooden puzzles and the pieces slot together very cleverly. So the only way to count them is individually!

Don't think it's the same company, but I had to do something similar... . . . . . I was working on a Legend of Zelda puzzle over a few days and at one point my dog and one of my cats decided that a few pieces looked good. I came into the room at one point to find the cat had knocked some pieces onto the floor and my dog had bit into a few of them. The company asked me to send in a photo of them "looking ashamed" and then they sent me out a new puzzle (which was very generous) since each piece was cut different.

@@lateralcast I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be a Hitori either. To my understanding, you couldn't have "marked" sections touching orthogonally and all unmarked numbers would have to form an unbroken chain with orthogonal connections. There's also another similar looking puzzle type where you draw lines the length of the number and connect it to a matching number, which I have forgotten the name, but that also wouldn't work here.
