How to apply for new Indian passport| Minor Passport| Latest detailed Process in English| 2024
Step 1 Register through the Passport Seva Online Portal. (Click on "Register Now" link on the Home Page).
Step 2 Login to the Passport Seva Online Portal with the registered Login Id.
Step 3 Click "Apply for Fresh Passport/Re-issue of Passport" link.
Step 4 Fill in the required details in the form and submit.
Step 5 Click the "Pay and Schedule Appointment" link on the "View Saved/Submitted Applications" screen to schedule an appointment.
Online Payment has been made mandatory for booking appointments at all PSK/POPSK/PO.
Online Payment can be made using any one of the following modes:
Credit/Debit Card (MasterCard and Visa)
Internet Banking (State Bank of India (SBI) Associate Banks and Other Banks)
SBI Bank Challan
Step 6 Click the "Print Application Receipt" link to print the application receipt containing Application Reference Number (ARN)/Appointment Number.
Note: Carrying printout of Application Receipt is no longer required. An SMS with your appointment details is also accepted as proof of appointment during your visit to Passport Office.
Step 7 Visit the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK)/Regional Passport Office (RPO) where appointment has been booked, along with original documents.
Note:
Only emergency/medical cases and preapproved categories may visit Passport Seva Kendra without appointment. Service will be provided at the discretion of Passport Seva Kendra in-charge/Passport Officer.
In case of minor applicants (below 4 years of age), carry the recent passport size photograph (4.5 X 3.5 cm) with white background.
Resubmission of application form is required, in case the applicant does not visit the Passport Seva Kendra within 90 days from the online form submission.

Thank You for taking the time ! It has been extremely helpful! The problem with Govt. portals is that user feedback is really poor, you just aren't sure if a particular step has been completed. So I've paid for both kids, initially showed pending, now it shows success, but the application receipt does not show the date and time of the appointment yet. So fingers crossed.

Hi, in case parents passports have different addresses on the passport, is that an issue for the minor? But our adhaar cards have the current address which is permanent. Is it mandatory that both parents have same address on passport? My address was different before marriage and that address has continued as my passport is still valid and my wife has the current address on her passport as it was renewed recently.
